Where is the negativity???

I swear, when we lose, this is the busiest site on the web! When we win, 80% of the forum members disappear. Where are all those doubting, pessimistic, realists? I'm beginning to think they actually do enjoy misery!

Anyways, I thought this team played alot better this week - naturally since we won! However, there are things that concern me. I wasn't particularly impressed with Mark Brunell in the first half. He certainly started off quite cold! It was a good thing that our running game was so effective!

As much as I HATE Brian Baldinger, I found myself agreeing with him about our lack of aggressive offense toward the end of the half! We certainly had time to move down the field and at least get into field goal range. I was kind of scratching my head on that last series of the first half. WOW....guess some of those pessimistic realists were wrong about me seeing no fault in Brunell and Gibbs!

So here are the positives from this week:

1. We didn't collaspe in the fourth quarter.
2. We didn't turn the ball over.
3. We got pressure on the QB.
4. We ran the ball effectively.
5. We scored 24 points.
6. Our defense only allowed 7 points.
7. Our kick coverage continues to get better.

Negatives from this week:

1. Brunell is losing his accuracy a bit.
2. Brunell nearly gave up the ball for a TD the other way.
3. Taylor Jacobs was non-existent.
4. Poor playcalling toward the end of the first half.
5. John Hall isn't the John Hall we got from the Jets anymore.
6. We seem to have at least one personal foul called on us every game.
7. We still committed more penalities than what I am comfortable with.
8. Offensive line needs to be more consistant with solid run blocking.

Gee, a blind optimist listing more negatives than positives! Does that mean I'm a realist?

So to show my true colors, I'm going to continue to say that I am not predicting anymore scores for the rest of the season. When asked, I'm just going to say, "I just want the Redskins to win the game!" I think we have a great shot at beating Arizona and please - for Pete's sake WE HAVE TO BEAT THE DALLAS COWBOYS! I have had it with these Cowturd fans jawing with me on another forum board. They kept whinning about not getting to watch Cowboy games in this area (because they'd rather whine than to find some other means to get the game on tv.)

well it is true that we have less people that come after a win. This is simply because we are insane.

Sorry, I'm going to bring a dose of optimism here and say we beat the Cardinals and the (McNabb, TO, and Westbrook-less) Eagles. If we win either of the Cowboys and Giants games, we go 9-7 (which I think is likely). If we beat both the Cowboys and Giants, we go 10-6 (which I think is unlikely). I still have faith...which, apparently means I am a blind optimist.

Re: Where is the negativity???

I think some of us just seek solace with others feeling as angry/frustrated as ourselves after a defeat. others just dwell in negativity and will find something wrong with everything that happens. It's hard for some of us after the past dozen years or so to really enjoy the moment when the team does something well cuz we might be afraid of getting too excited only to be dissapointed, but a majority of us keep coming back cuz it's our team no matter what even if it is just to vent.

In fact, those who bitch ,cry and moan about what Brunell isn't doing and what Gibbs should be doing will be quiet for the entire end of this season. The Redskins feed off of adversity. They wait until their backs are against the wall and come out slugging. Next at bat, Sean Taylor his targets Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin.

Re: Where is the negativity???

I'm just happy to see progress. We had a hell of a schedule and may still very well end up with a winning record. Don't forget that every non-redskin fan predicted us to have an awful, dismal, losing record this year.

Re: Where is the negativity???

I think I am just the opposite, I am so pissed after a loss, I have to keep clear of posting due to I will get into some serious controversy because the shit gets so negative. The Chicken Little the sky is falling shit drives me crazy especially how competitive and much improved this team is from last year. I have to admit I agree with the facts and that turnovers have killed us in most of our close games, and some other minor issues. Yeah it may be a long shot that we win out, but I be damn if I am a fan get on here and say my team sucks, the coaches suck, we will never win another game, etc... As long as the team plays smart football and continues to be aggressive they can win out. True it was only one game, but just have a feeling that we may surprise some people and keep those negative fans in a hole for a while or until an individual who messes up brings them out of hibernation and not a team loss where they bash the whole team and even find away to blame someone from the previous years for the loss or why the team is so horrible.

This is what I see. We have four defeats to AFC West teams and two to NFC teams. I have watched the Giants and Cowboys every week make the same mistakes if not more than we have made and lose close games. Here are five reasons we will beat both of them.

1.Drew Bledsoe is a breathing statue, who will be live bait for our defense now that the Walt Harris era is over. Bledsoe threw only one TD against our defense with the homefield advantage and if Carlos Rodgers can be as consistent as he has been we should finally force some turnovers and great field position.

2.Eli Manning has been stinking up the place for the last two weeks. He has only one away game to the 49ers. He will not win in D.C. He is flustered when there is enough pressure placed on him which causes him to throw off of his back leg and make mistake after mistake.

3.Antonio Pierce thinks he has this team figured out. But watch what one week of sleepless nights will create. The Redskins will beat the Giants deep. Brunell has to go after Curtis Deloach who has been burnt so many times Coughlin is considering checking him into the burn unit of hospital.

4.Rock Carwright and Mike Sellers will have the best performances of their careers. It's time the no-name players step up.

5.The twelth man will determine who goes home a loser. The Redskins are the team that can beat the Redskins at this point. That meeting Gibbs had, ironed out most of the problems, now the real lesson will be put into action against the New York G-Strings and the Dallas Cowbitches.

Re: Where is the negativity???

I figured I'd beat the negative nellys to the punch on the playcalling and Mark Brunell. Overall, I am quite optimistic that this team can finish 10-6. I would at least like to see 9-7 even if we don't go to the playoffs. That means progress has been shown - and if we add three more games next year, that could mean a division title and battling for homefield advantage.

Just want to clear the air on Brunell. I'm not hatin' on him. I still think he is our best chance at winning. I just hope we can see him burning it up the last 4 games! ;-)

Re: Where is the negativity???

I was fustraded after the game. we should've killed them. I was pissed that our passing game sucks...

I even created a long post about how angry i was and how sad it was that 3 runs bailed us out of the game. but i decided against it. i wanted to let everyone enjoy the victory.
