Question Why does Shapiro think TO would be good in DC?

Sorry to rehash an old topic, but I'm surprised nobody brought this up. Is Shapiro for real? Bring TO to DC? Umm...no?

Redskins Should Consider Owens

I do like the part about Billy Kilmer:
Quote:
If Owens had made statements about him similar to the ones he made about Donovan McNabb, Kilmer said he would simply have taken matters into his own passing hand.

"I'd send him over the middle," Kilmer said, with a sly smile on his face. "Then I'd lob one up and make him stretch out for it. Oh yeah, I'd probably tell the safety where I was gonna' throw the ball, too. I guarantee you, that would have been the last time T.O. lipped off about me."
His points that Gibbs can deal with difficult personalities and that we need a big receiver are right on, but, c'mon, TO? That's just stupid.

Well, not that I support the idea, but whoever gets TO will get him for relatively cheap and he is a gamechanger. We need a big receiver that can go up and get it. So I see where people put it together, along with the fact that Cerrato drafted him and apparently loves him.

Owens is a great influence if you can duct tape his mouth shut. He's one of those first in, last out type guys. Works hard. etc. Shame he's ruined what could have been an amazing career by talking too much.

TO has proven that he can't keep his mouth shut, that's the problem. He's burned bridges with two teams now.

I don't see Gibbs showing any interest in this guy.

I definitely see the allure of having one of the top receivers on your team, but why does this guy think Gibbs would take a chance on destroying team chemistry by bringing in TO?

No never no no no no no no! Lets see, the guy is a malcontent, loudmouth, distraction, self-centered and talented. Oh yeah he is also aging...we're not talking about a guy smack dab in the middle of his prime or coming into his prime. He is on the other side of the hill. Still very near the top but he isn't going to be getting any better. At best he has two years left at his current playing level and that's if he stays healthy which seems to be hard for WR in their mid 30s. Thank you but no. The guy brings no net value to a team.

If we get TO we will definitely win the Superbowl. We are just ONE fallen star player from winning it all! Its fantasy football time! While we're at it, lets bring back Jeff "the cancer" George and Me-on Sanders. With huge signing bonuses.

Come on, Lenny...lets keep this solid team together and build on it. Young, quality free agents (i.e. Marcus Washington, Rabach) and not more 30-year old loudmouths.

Actually let's not forget the 3rd team he burned some bridges with, the Ravens.

Good catch-MK. Coincidence or not, look at the present state of all three of those teams...............Interesting

I want to get Javon Walker or trade with the Texans for disgruntled Andre Johnson. FTO.

Re: Why does Shapiro think TO would be good in DC?

Here's my worry about Owens. Say you sign him to a one year contract with performance and good behavior incentives. What's going to happen the third or fourth time the QB throws the ball to another receiver because Owens is triple covered?

If that costs TO enough incentive $$$, is there any doubt what Owens will do -- and will do to the team?
  1. The QB is gay and tired
  2. We would be undefeated with Favre or the Mannings
  3. The team has no class
  4. I don't have to speak to the assistant coaches
  5. I don't have to cooperate on week days
  6. I don't have to speak to the fans
  7. I don't have to speak to the press
  8. I'm underpaid.
  9. I want a new contract
  10. I want to play somewhere else
  11. Team work is over-rated
There is no "I" in TEAM, and no "TO" either
