Re: smoot injured
Brian Williams has done a decent job replacing Tom Brokaw on the NBC Nightly News, so I'm sure he'll be fine filling in for Captain Stubin there.
Ralph Brown? Is that the same Ralph Brown that was with the Redskins for a cup of coffee?

Re: smoot injured
I'm not trying to take to much joy in this because we should never root for injuries. Unless of course the guy plays on the giants, cowgirls or eagulls.:FIREdevil

Re: smoot injured
i don't like smoot because he is a sellout. People are saying he was the worst offseason move by any team to pay him so much money and him not be able to handle WRs. I don't like the injury, i enjoyed watching his ass get burned week in and week out. Get well soon smoot and continue sucking

Re: smoot injured
its funny because pastabelly predictably said that Smoot was the best free agent available and that the Skins were crazy to let him go. He thought it was criminal that they weren't matching Minnesota's offer. What we see is that Smoot is a number 2 CB getting number 1 money (he makes more than Springs). I loved the guy when he was here, but I'm not missing him this year.

Re: smoot injured
I still would like Smoot back here in Washington. If he hadn't left, then we would have drafted a receiver for sure. I kind of have a love/hate relationship with Walt Harris, but I believe eventually, Carlos Rogers will win that starting spot.

Re: smoot injured
For the record - I hate Walt Harris' no-tackling ass.
He's solid most of the time, but he's killed us on few occasions this year. Be glad when #22 get's the starting nod. |

Re: smoot injured
I will say it again. Smoot was stupid crazy overrated and if we gave him all that money I would have been really pissed! So many marginal players play the market for every penny. They have every right, but you can't ever.. ever give that kind of money to the Fred Smoots of the league.

Re: smoot injured
pierce would have been worth keeping though... and it would have been cheaper than the giants deal too, but oh well. Hopefully mccune turns into a beast by next year, then we'd have a big LB corp that's super fast too.

Re: smoot injured
I think Smoot and Pierce were worth keeping for our asking price for both.
They were both competitive with Minn and Giants respectively but both included a slightly higher signing bonus. I don't blame either for leaving, but I don't think they realized the magic of Redskins football with Gibbs. Not that its all Gibbs, but who woulda thunk that Brunell would turn out to be worth his paycheck this season? Not me! And I supported Gibbs in his Brunell for Ramsey switch. Our team would be better had we got to keep Smoot and Pierce, but that was a time when TO's whims mattered. Quickly the NFL organizations are realizing that big money doesn't often end up in big dividends. Why does everyone hate the PATS? Cause they're a slightly above average team that consistantly gets it done. Good riddance Smoot and Pierce, talk your 'I wanna be a Skin for life' crap cash in and watch us mature and improve with a solid 'team' outlook. Minn players might wanna take out another sex boat and Gmen will implode before the season is over. I guarantee a win against them at FED EX!!!
