Exposed

Yes, we got exposed.

granted we made a ton of mistakes(fumbles, drops and more fumbles), but we got out gameplanned.

On Offence: the giants defence dropped 7 players in passcoverage to cover our 3 players in a passroute. Normaly, the offence has all day to pass but the giants front 4 dominated our Oline. they had 7 guys covering our 3 or 4 WR's and we couldnt do shit against it.
we had 5 and 6 guys blocking their front four, and our guys got their asses kicked.
The offensive line is terrible. the giants were dropping all the linebackers in coverage and we still couldnt run. i dont care who the running back is, when its 5 olinemen vs 4 dlinemen, the running back shouldnt be touched till he gets passed the line of scrimmage.

On Defence: they ran at the defence's Right side all freakin day... not much to say about that. is it daniels? or our linebackers? i saw harris miss a tackle on a blitz regardless there should be someone else in position to help out.

To sum things up: the redskins offence is built around beating the blitz. Gibbs is going to have to come up with a solution because the eagles are going to try what the giants did to see if it works for them. so will the buccs and the.... we need to get it fixed.

defensively. it looks like lavar is back as the starter and not just in on 3-4 schemes. that should help a little. we are using our safeties too much in coverage, not enought on the attack.

The Giants arent that good. we arent that bad. we just need to win next week....

Re: Exposed

Plain and simplew elost so bad becasue our O-line got dominated. No time to pass and no room to run. If we play better on the line we keep the ball longer and give ourselves more opportunities. We may still lose but at least it'd been closer. The line was completely out classed.

Re: Exposed

I've tried really hard to not comment on this game, but I just can't help it.

I'm not going to sit here and say, "Well it's because Mara died." or, "Pierce and Hasselbeck knew our plays (which IS quite likely)."

I'm going to say this complete ravaging was the cause of a few glaring problems, a couple of which I feel were just anomalies.

1) Dropped passes. I haven't seen so many passes dropped since the days of 50-50. This is something I believe was just a bad week and will be corrected in days to come.

2) Out planned. Another thing that can be fixed and has been mentioned already.

3) The thing that worries me the most. Run defense. Our run defense looked absolutely horrible. The Giants offensive line is far from elite, but completely owned our front four. I don't know where you begin fixing this. This will be the most important part of our season, this is where Williams could send a lot of pressure last year because of our dominant run defense.

4) Turnovers. Again, I believe it was just an anomaly, because come on, we all know that when it rains it pours (I had to laugh a number of times at JUST HOW BAD our luck got.)

I still get sick thinking about this loss, but just look at some scores around the league. Tampa Bay lost to "the WORST defense in the league", Philadelphia got ravaged just as bad as we did and they truly DID get exposed. It was a tough loss to swallow, especially from the Giants, but they truly did outplan us and outplay us. That being said, it's not THAT hard to score when your average starting position was basically at the 50.

Re: Exposed

This team cant effectively run the ball. When a team's top back gets only 9 yards, there's problems. The line needs to get its act together and now that haloween is over, maybe Portis can focus on running instead of his haloween costumes.

Re: Exposed

This is what the game came down to plain and simple. The Giants had a great gameplan and executed. Meanwhile the Skins quickly got taken out of their plan and couldn't properly adjust, and they simply couldn't execute.

Sweep this one under the rug and let's move on to the Eagles.

Re: Exposed

Also, before we TRULY freak out, we still have a winning record and let's remember that even the PATRIOTS get owned in their OWN HOUSE once in a while. This was a "shit happens" type of game.

Re: Exposed

What got exposed was that any time we are a one dimensional team we are going to struggle.

"Take the run away from those guys," said Pierce, who finished with 11 tackles and an interception, "and you take a lot of team out of them. They lose some energy."

They didn't take away the run as much as Coach Gibbs did. 19-0 at halftime is bad, 25-0 is even worse, but what doomed us even more than the dropped passes, leaky offensive line and all the turnovers was the fact that we gave up on the run so soon. Brunell's best friend has been the running game, but when the opposing team drops 7 back into coverage then you have to run the ball.

IMO Gibbs panics when he gets down and just abandons the game plan. I didn't see much of the first half, but Portis and Betts combined for just 7 carries in the entire game. WTF? I know we went to the shotgun to give Brunell some time, but all it did was make us one-dimensional. Our inability to convert on third down, a strength before, kept our defense on the field too long. Then the defense starts to press to make plays and we lose all our fundamentals and effort.

An aberration? Perhaps, but all the wheels shouldn't come off once we hit a bump. I mean there were NO bright spots yesterday, we got completely and totally dominated. I think the biggest measure of this team will be how we play this Sunday.

Here's a quote that I thought summed it up perfectly.

This was a dominating performance by Tiki Barber as the Redskins ran into a buzz saw. This was a perfect example of what the NFC East is like and always has been like. Teams can go into a game and get blown out and it's not really a reflection of how good the team is at the time. Every NFC East game is filled with intensity; if the other team doesn't rise up to meet that level of intensity, then it will lose badly.

Re: Exposed

Did our team go on the Smoot's Viking ship after the 52-17 win and got off the boat in NY?
