Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

Dear God,

I know we don't talk as much as we should. As always, I'm a big fan.

Would it be out of line to ask that David Akers continue to rest until after the Eagles play us? In your greater glory, of course.

XO,

Brud

Jose Cortez is a step up from Todd France, hence the move. He won't be there long. As soon as Akers is back, Cortez will get kicked to the curb.

As far as our kickers go, Novak is doing great on FGs and XPs, but he doesn't kick the ball deep on kickoffs. That is probablly why we have not dropped John Hall yet. When Hall gets back healthy, the Skins will have deeper kickoffs.

I need to start taking kicking lessons, apparently even when you're garbage you can still find a job.

Amazing.

That's what I was thinking my way into the NFL was. Just learn how to kick!

Hmmm, I was a decent kicker, kicked in a handful of flag football games in college and after. I can hit from 35, 40 yards. perhaps i should call the Eagles for a tryout...however, I doubt they'll sign a 320 lb kicker.

Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France

This is wonderful. You guys remember when Cortez was the kicker for SF a couple years ago and he missed all those potential winners inside 30 yards? I think he missed two chipshots at the end of a game against SD - something like that. Supposedly he took some time off to change his kicking style, coming back this season rejuvinated, but it looks like he might have needed to get a valium prescipription from a sports psychologist as well.

One thing that has always amazed me is how difficult it is to find 32 guys at one time in the entire world who can consistently kick a ball through a target. I mean, I know its harder than it looks and everything (so says my dad who was a kicker in college) but there's a lot of people in this world. Alot of soccer players who maybe aren't fast enough for the big leagues. I could imagine someone signing some fat Brazilian goaly who can bomb then from 60+, and he becomes the Antonio Gates of Kickers. Just a thought...

Re: Eagles claim Jose Cortez, waive France

I am starting to think we should hold on to both our kickers thoughout the season just to keep them away from the other teams in the NFC East.
