Bradshaw eating some crow

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/4926946

My point today is that we live in a world where we all want instant gratification. We want to jump on the Internet. We're on the cell phone going to work. Everything is now. We want everything now. Fast. Speed. Give me answers today. Right now. We have no patience.

Now, everybody knows I'm a traditionalist. I hate the Internet. I hate cell phones. But because of the world we live in, pro football has transcended into a sport that cries out, "Fix-me-now, give-me-results today." Our world, the one in Washington, D.C., has put so much pressure on such a great coach like Joe Gibbs.

After the first week of the season, I told Gibbs to fix his quarterback situation. I was as guilty as the next guy. Sure, they won in Week 1, but I didn't like the offense I was seeing. All I saw was this old offense with all his old offensive coaching staff, one that was protected by a sensational Gregg Williams' defense.

But you know what Gibbs did? He still has himself a running back in Clinton Portis. Yep, Portis is a little different than what Gibbs is used to, but Portis is doing his job. He found himself a solid H-back in Chris Cooley and he brought in that old quarterback, Mark Brunell. I'm still not sure that Brunell is the guy simply because everyone is asking back there, "Can he last? Can he last?"

But I really liked what I saw Sunday against the Seahawks. The Redskins are picking up their blocking schemes. The offensive linemen are picking up the blitzes and that delay blitz I talked about on our postgame show that ended up in the game-deciding 30-yard pass to Santana Moss. That proved the linemen and Brunell are seeing things. Brunell is like these other guys. Give him time, he's a veteran. He's polished. He throws a great deep ball. He really throws a pretty pass and he makes good decisions when he has time.

It's damn impressive what the Redskins have accomplished thus far.

Let's go back to last year. Remember, at the end of last season, Gibbs came out and said, "Let's not be so quick in writing off Brunell." Patrick Ramsey, yes, he's pretty good, but Brunell can still play.

Now, I was one of those guys who openly questioned Gibbs when he said that. Did he really believe that? I was saying, "Hey, get the young kid in there. You can't win with Brunell."

Why did I do that? Because I'm following into a trap like everyone else. Pick up the papers back in Washington. The writers thought Gibbs was dead wrong about Brunell. I've learned my lesson. There is no way I know more about what's going on in Washington than Gibbs. I just see it from a studio and I'm impressed that the Redskins are 3-0 and in first place.

Hey at least he came out and admitted it. I'm not a big fan of Bradshaw, but that was real classy of him to come out and admit he was wrong (which he is most of the time).

I respect the fact that he can own up to his shit. Most people like Dr. Zit and Len Fat ass would never admit to being wrong.

Well said,
Within this website is an amazing amount of debate over what is an obsession for us all. Our beloved SKINS. We can take any position on any issue. Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, like it or don't. Old man GIbbs has built us a competative FOOTBALL team. They will ONLY get better..............fast. ENJOY

Re: Bradshaw eating some crow

I really like the point he makes about how nobody has any patience anymore.

It's so true, just look at all the idiots calling for Gibbs' head halfway through last season. Some people wrote off Joe Gibbs off before even giving him a real chance. He went from hero to zero in 8 games, and based on that he was given absolutely no chance this year as these unsubstantiated rumors kept flying how he would quit if the Skins struggled again this year.

The media as a whole really has their collective heads up their asses sometimes. And it's so fun to see them proven wrong, especially when we knew what the real story was here.

Good for TB! Now just think, if he's seeing the game from the studio, - as he admitted-as not catching it all, where in the hell are Dr.Z and Peter King, and oh, my man Banks seeing it from?

Good job TB. Bottom line, unless you are a Warpath member you have no right to take shots at our Skins. j/k. Kinda....

Great capture from Bradshaw. The guys at FOX can talk football without letting their egos get in the way.

To your point Matty, I think it must be the salary cap. Everyone fears getting stuck with an overpriced turkey and so it has become "Perform today or hit the street." It used to be that QBs might sit on the bench for several years before assuming a starting role. Not anymore. They cost a ton of money and you can't afford to sit a hot prospect. If you crush his confidence early, you may lose a Pro Bowler before he blossoms. Even the rules for a practice squad prohibit movement up and down similar to the NHL or MLB (although they have their own issues there). We should trust the one coach who we literally worshipped 20 years ago. He's done nothing except build champions everywhere he's been.

Matty:

Actually, you can't let all the "Warpathers" off the hook so easily. Remember after Week 1 when we had threads devoted to how the players could not possibly ever trust Joe Gibbs again.

Leaping to conclusions affects lots of people - - and not all of them are on TV or write for newspapers or for Internet sites...

As I recall there was only a minority of people that said Gibbs shouldn't be trusted. I for one said that only Ramsey shouldn't trust him, and if I were Ramsey, I wouldn't even if we went to the SB for the next 4 years.

But leave it to you to point that out and call for people's heads.

Thanks for keeping it friendly buddy!!

Yeah, but did SC actually say there was a majority of warpathers that didn't trust Gibbs? I didn't see that in his post, and for the most part, you probably agree with him in saying that there certainly are a few that didn't trust Gibbs and may still not. Overall, I believe what SC said was quite accurate.

I'm not really getting into the Ramsey thing and right now don't really care....we're winning..that's all that matters.

Re: Bradshaw eating some crow

Sorry I just don't get all the "don't let all the "warpathers" off the hook" crap. God forbid someone question something, or answer a poll honestly based on their gut feeling. Right or Wrong, everyone here has opinions, and its all the winey "lets rub it in some faces" and "demand apologies" B.S. that really gets my blood boiling, no matter who's "right".

I mean, let em off the hook? What is Matty gonna make people do pushups?? lol

Anyway I just don't like condesention. Everytime someone talks to me with a raised eyebrow they immediately lose my trust and respect.

Don't worry, if there is any "where's my apology" like last time on this thread it will be locked instantly. No questions asked. I may not agree with your opinions all the time but I'm not going to ask for an apology from you and you shouldn't ever ask for one from me-not when it comes to opinions. And that applies to everybody
