Preview: Bye Week/Redskins vs. Seahawks

Just in case people didn't know, I AM on vacation, but after that win nothing has been able to keep me away from the computer to check on opinions and comments. Just a few things I thought about after the game and football in general.

Things to work on in the bye week:

1) MORE DEEP PASSING. I know Brunell overthrew a couple of times to Moss and Patten, you can't be perfect on every deep pass. I would say he was 2/4 on deep passes, and we ALL know those came when it counted.

2) Pass protection. Was the Cowboys front that good or did the o-line play that bad? I know 5 sacks is a lot, but damn, we can't be giving that up every game and still plan to win.

Things to prepare for prior to the Seahawks:

1) Protect against the run. Sure this is a given, but Alexander is pretty much their whole team. Hasselbeck is very Ramsey-like is his on again, off again play. I think that once we contain Alexander, like we have been able to each RB we face, we will dominate this game provided we actually play like we did the last five minutes of the Cowboys game.

2) More Clinton. We can definitely run on the Seahawks. Their defense isn't as aggressive as the Bears or Cowboys. I think that he can rack up some yards. I think this game will be a situation where the running game opens up the passing game.

3) Cut down on penalties. Against the Cowboys, we did have a number of penalties. Most were false starts, which you can expect in a hostile environment. I expect this to be vastly improved since we are playing at home.

Just a few thoughts, I'll check back the discussion when I take a break from laying by the beach and drinking Dos Equis. See ya'll when I get home...

I can't wait to see this game. I live in Washington State and it would be awesome to be in DC and watch the Seahawks get there butt's kicked. Seattle doesn't no how to finish games out. Look at last weekend's game, there up 21-0 at half and almost lose it to a one legged Vick. My buddies who have season tickets to the Seahawks said they are going to quit going to the games and ask for a refund for there tickets because they can't close games out!

I also like the fact that we have a West Coast team coming into town and a 1 pm EST start. Hope those West Coast boys are half asleep and still suffering from jet lag. I don't think visiting teams fare too well on coast to coast trips.

I think we are very capable of beating Seattle. To me, the Seahawks have always been so close to being great, but never seem to get to that next step. I think limiting Alexander definitely puts a great strain on the 'hawks' offense. However, don't fool yourselves, Hasslebeck is more than capable of getting the ball downfield to his receivers.

Seems as if the key to beating Seattle is to limit them in the beginning. They have an offense that starts hot early and seems to cool off the rest of the game. If we can survive that intial hot streak and keep the game close, we have a very good chance!

I'm certain Gregg Williams will come up with something to stop the "hawks'. Skins' Defense only gave up 1 TD so far (and that was on a trick play).

I hope we see some Defensive plays be made as far as sacks and turnovers. I like a strong Defense that doesn't give up yards and points, but It would be nice to see some interceptions and maybe some points scored on D.

I wouldn't exactly write seattle off. Their Defense can pose problems to struggling offenses and they have a dynamic offense. Alexander only missed the rushing title by one yard last year, and they have an offensive line that can pass protect with the best. When hasslebeck has time he can pick a defense apart, and we've had a very tough time getting pressure the last couple of games. We're gonna have to pick it up on Defense this game in order to give our struggling offense the opportunity to score meaningful points.

I'm ready for this game for several reasons. First off, all eyes will be on our offense to see if we can pick up where we left off on Monday night. The Seahawks are really week in their secondary and should be tested early and often in this game. Key match ups should be Joe Jurivescus and either Harris/Springs/Rodgers. Sorry Shaun Alexander, you don't gain 100yds. on this Sunday. Redskins win. 24-10.

The Seahawks offense does not work when Alexander cant run. Hopefully everythign reamins consistent and as usual our defense will shut down the run and force them to pass. Which, other that the trick play, is also very hard to do against our guys. The bottom line is still that we need to score though.
