Greetings to my favorite team in the NFC

Hey, all.

Here’s hoping you guys have a good season, cheers!

At the very least, do me favor and sweep the CowGirls and that insidious silver and blue team with the stupid star on their helmet ;-)

What’s the consensus here on the board about your final record and who do you guys foresee giving you the most trouble besides the two I mentioned?

BTW, the average on the Steelers board for Pitt (average wise) is a 11-5 mark.

Chicago
@Dallas…...MNF…..can’t wait to see you guys f*ck them up!
Bye
Seattle
@Denver
@KC
San Francisco
@NY Giants
Philly
@Tampa Bay
Oakland
San Diego
@St. Louis
@Arizona
Dallas

What's up Scrap. Hey, what's everyone saying about Big Ben over there?? Are you guys worried?

I would have to say the average is somewhere between 9-7 and 10-6 depending who you talk to. But most probably like us at 10-6. I like 11-5

The most problems will probably come from Philly. We hate them too!!!

Re: Greetings to my favorite team in the NFC

There's a small percentage that say he's going to have this "sophomore jinxed" season and then you have the rest of us that REALLY understand the game and what's been going on on the field for Pitt.

They've been running very vanilla packages and plays (very much unlike what many that live in Pitt have been watching them do on a daily basis in practice) and whenever they say we have the 1st team on O in, most of us chuckle. If you know who the first team really is, there's a mix of receivers, TEs, etc. that ARE not 1st team. Expect one thing, the Steelers will be throwing the D way off-guard right from the starting gates. Believe me and watch out for Heath Miller this year !!

Yeah, that kid could be a beast in the making, we'll see.

We're very optimistic down here, and for the most part pleased with what we saw in pre-season especially against the Steelers, and I'm not speaking of the score here.

The O-line is looking really good along with Clinton Portis. And the defense is appearing as if it will be just as good if not better than last year.

The only question mark is QB. Some are concerned that he's underthrowing receivers on deep routes, others think it's just a timing thing. We'll see in about 7 seven days.

Yeah, they're the same points I mentioned with what I saw during the game when I came back to visit that week. The O-line and D looked awesome and QB is a bit of a question mark. With that said, with your offensive line, all you need is a capable qb behind center to have a "ball control" type of offense.....you know, the clock killing/dominating kind. That kind of offense coupled with a great D is dangerous. One word...this is going to kill me to type it, the.....fuck......the........Ravens! The SB Ravens.

I think alot of us are more realistic. A winning record would be nice.

I think 10-6 is realistic. 11-5 optomistic.

All I want is a 8-8 record and a sweep of Dallas.

Re: Greetings to my favorite team in the NFC

I havent heard or read any football expert anywhere think were even going to be a .500 team,and if we dont eliminate the penalties and stupid decision making thats where were going to end up,if we can beat everyone in our division at least once,maybe sweep the giants,then we'll probably be a wildcard contender,but if Dallas beats us twice,we will suck and will be sub .500,thats my opinion

I agree with you, in part. I think this year will be different. (Like every year of course

Last year a lot of the penalties we incurred were primarily on the offense or the o-line. Things like motion, false starts, holding, delay of game - particularly Derrick Dockery. This unit has come a long way in terms of being more disciplined and focused. Dockery hasn't been flagged once during the preseason, granted he hasn't played an entire game yet this season. But my point is I think we have eliminated a lot of the mental errors just from the o-line alone which could translate into 2 or 3 victories in close games.

Remember, this team lost several close games last year and could have easily been 9-7 or 10-6.

I'm more concerned about special teams penalties...
