A Little Optimism From Phil Simms
My apologies if this has been posted already. Phil Simms writes:
"I'm curious to see how the Washington Redskins progress. They might have a championship defense. Can they blend the offense into that? The offense just needs to be more productive and less destructive to the total makeup of the team." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/8720600 Nothing new here, but interesting article |

Re: A Little Optimism From Phil Simms
Welcome to the NFL. On one hand we will probably end up fourth in the division and on the other we could potentially win the division. It just shows how hard it is to speculate about how a team will do. Phil Simms does get somewhat more respect from me considering he actualy you know played the game rather than guys like Pastabelly who can only be considered experts on the proper way to attack a buffet in an efficient manner.

Re: A Little Optimism From Phil Simms
As a Skins fan, who came of age rooting for the team during Gibbs Era I and who vividly remembers those awesome games between the Parcell's coached G-men and the Skins. It is really interesting to see such a quote from Simms. I am not going into the tank on this team yet, but I, and for reasons that I cannot fully justify I am optimistic about this team, more so than just a casaul fan.
I like the fact that we are underdogs, and all of the preseason publications are predicting doom and gloom. I also like the fact that TO is making a complete circus out of Iggles training camp, everyday on the AM 980 radio sports-talk station it is nonstop TO on the Mike-and-Mike ESPN morning show. Good news for us Skins fans if the Iggles have nothing but turmoil getting prepared for the season. Having said all of that the one team that causes me concern is our most hated rival, the Cowboys. That team is a complete enigma, as far as I am concerned I cannot get a feel if they are going to be good or bad. I just know that if the Skins are going to have success this year they have to beat those guys. Which is why I think our second game of the season might be the most important game for this franchise in a long time. |

Re: A Little Optimism From Phil Simms
If memory serves, while we cut our throats offensively on many occasions last season, most of our loss's were by less than a touchdown. With the changes, personnel moves, continuity with same staff, etc., it is impossible for me to believe, we will not be greatly improved and competitive. As far as I am concerned the NFC east is up for grabs with Philly's TO deal and other injuries to the recieving staff! It's all good!!!

The boutique pick for the East now that the Eagles are seemingly in disarray appears to be the Cowboys. Last year they lost 7 games by 14+ points. That doesn't seem like a team that is just a slight tinker away from greatness. "Hey, I know. Let's bring in a slower QB! That should swing us by about two TDs!"
