Arringtons Return is Close

http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=8743

Quote:
LaVar Arrington, rehabbing his injured right knee, completed a conditioning test on Tuesday and passed "with flying colors," director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer said.

The three-time Pro Bowl linebacker could be practicing with the team, albeit on a limited basis, as early as next week.

"We're getting close," Tyer said. "LaVar's getting better."

Arrington is expected to continue through this week with his normal routine. That means Wednesday's schedule will include weight training for his legs, plus some field work in the afternoon. The Redskins have scheduled a closed practice on Wednesday evening. If there is no lingering soreness following workouts this week, the next step would be for Arrington to take part in limited practice, including agility drills, after the Redskins' first preseason game at Charlotte, N.C., this Saturday.

Re: Arringtons Return is Close

Yeah, I saw that. And the post had a bit on it too:

Arrington Dashes Toward Return

Linebacker LaVar Arrington took an important step toward returning to the field by easily passing a conditioning test, consisting of 14 40-yard dashes. Arrington, who is recovering from a knee injury that required two surgeries, appears likely to participate in limited practice starting next week.

"He passed it with flying colors," said Bubba Tyer, director of sports medicine. "We're real proud of him. He did great. We're getting close." . . .

I don't think he'll play this weekend. If I read it right he won't partake in team practices until next week

Good to hear he's making progress.

No need to rush him though, the last thing we need is him to tweak that knee again.

I'm sure the team won't push him, and hopefully he won't push himself again this time to come back too early.

or blame us when he does.

Good news though i am really happy, pissed me off not to see him during camp or the scrimmage. i just hope he is back to the way he used to be. Time will tell as of now holdman will start at OLB in his place

Re: Arringtons Return is Close

This seems to be good news. I must admit that I've been skeptical as to whether he would return in time for the season. After all the PR games that were played with his status, it's hard for me to take anything at face value when it comes to injuries.

Re: Arringtons Return is Close

Saw a interview on Comcast last night. Looked like he was very frustrated. This quote I found really funny "I do not listen to what is written" Yo Laavar I don't think anybody can listen to what is written.

Can't wait for his return.

Remember when he was close to returning like 6 weeks after he injured himself? Take his time, try to be back by the opener!

Re: Arringtons Return is Close

Once he's back, teamed up with Sean Taylor.... I imagine we'll start to see a lot more of those game-changing turnovers that we lacked on Defense last year. We held down the scoring and yards, but we didn't create a lot of turnovers. Once Carlos Rogers gets some seasoning and is on the same page with those two guys, it'lll be a show.

Re: Arringtons Return is Close

You know, I've been hearing great things about Taylor so far in camp. Now, if Lavar comes back and plays, where are all the Naysayers that were writing, "Trouble with their 2 best players." I think the Redskins did really well this offseason compared to some teams in the NFL. I think Taylor was the only guy that didn't come to the voluntaries, right? We got all our draft picks signed real quick. Seems like these guys want to play. I don't think what Lavar says should be taken to seriously either. I like him, but he does come off as being a bit emotional.

Re: Arringtons Return is Close

Lavar should be brought along slow, so he's ready for Sept 11. Preseason means nothing.

As for Lavar's value (I wrote something like this on another thread)--it's as much to draw attention of O-coordiantors and O-linemen as to do anything else at first. You have to scheme for Lavar. You don't for Warrick Holdman or Lemar Marshall. That affects what OTHER players can do--they can fly under the radar a bit more, which is crucial in William's blitz-from-all-angles scheme.

Plus, I agree about TOs--Lavar always forces them.

I can't wait to see him back. I won't believe it til I see it, given the ways things have been going.
