Anyone see the scrimmage?

Just wondering if anyone was there--how did things look? I know it's only the first scrimmage--and given how short a time we've been in camp, we were bound to look bad against a great D like the jailbirds--but I'd love to hear some eyewitness accounts.

PS: Whatever happened, remember--it's a month until the season. This was really just a chance to get some real hitting in, and to evaluate some new faces. Also, Ramsey is going to take some time, as is the O-line, even in the best circumstances. KEEP THE FAITH!

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

I didn't see the game, but I heard we didn't look that good. The offensive line wasn't playing well and ramsey didn't do that good either. I did hear that the defense looked good though, except for ade jimoh

Looks like we didn't do to hot on offense, but the D was all over, Taylor showed up ... what sucks is Jacobs hurt his toe, and needs an MRI ...

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

Me and Vishsskins went today, we went early into the A gate and sat 7 rows from the field. It was amazing because that was the redskins sid and we were CENTER 50 yard line. We could see all of the faces of the players and toward the end we walked up to the front, we got about 1 foot away from sean taylor, he actually signed a lot of stuff, he actually took my football and put on a table of things he was gonna sign and picked mine up and right before he started he got called back to the field. I didn't mind to much and told it was ok, he said sorry but i was so exited to meet him that i didn't get upset, but by FAR Ryan Clark signed more than anyone he actually signed after the game and waited as long as he possibly could.,

During the game our Defense in my opinion didn't play anywhere near the way they played last year. Springs didn't go on during the scrimmage but was talking to the players with the headset, Taylor was pushed to the second string and Bowen played later also. Taylor played very well though.

BY FAR the best player at the game was non other than ANTONIO BROWN. The first play was a practice special teams play and antonio destroyed. he took it back and was touched after about 30 yards, and they stopped the play after he was touched. during the game he got more receptions that anyone else BY FAR, now i know what gibbs and CO. is talking about. I can't wait to see him during the year.

TAYLOR JACOBS GOT HURT, HE WAS BEING BANDAGED ABOUT 10 Feet in front of us. then i was in denile and kept saying he is ok he is ok. but then he got up and lymped and the trainers got him a cart to take him off the field.

Our offense looked good besides for one position. QB- i was extremely disappointed with Ramsey and Brunnel, Campbell however played pretty well.
I got to see shotgun and me and vish were really loud, we yelled out SHotgun, and some raven fans got upset, it was third and 10 Ramsey hit a receiver(i think patten) with a 14 yard first down conversion

One great thing i saw was CHRIS McCallister gave MOSS about 12 yards of cushion. I yelled out look at that cushion and the second the play was hiked PAt hit moss with an 8 yarder.

after the game i knew where the players lot was, me and vishskins waited for a few minutes with about 6 redskin fans. The Ravens had a different place to wait for their players, THE FIRST PLAYER WE SAW WAS CLINTON PORTIS. I thought i had lost my mind. I looked at him comming by and yelled out CLINTON CLINTON. He came over and signed a football and chuckled as i told said "You're getting 17 hundred yards right" I patted him on the back and said thanks, he blew VIshskins off, Vish was hurt but got to tap him on the back as he left.

We then met John hall( he had a ice pack on), hawkins, Rabach, Ramsey(who was really nice), Salavea(me and Vish got to talk to him because we recognized him immediatly, we told him to stay healthy and have an amazing year, he was the only player who seemed to care about what the we had to say, many others started to have to rush to get everyone signed). We got RIch Parson and a couple others.
From what i heard Lavar and samuels ran by and didn't sign much. Ray Brown just shook hands, and Jon Janson was about to sign our stuff and the police motorcycles were comming and he said he had to go and ran off.

All in all i missed the end but we were definatly getting beat, Antonio Brown played AMAZING.

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

Thanks for the report, BigSKIN. Only the first scrimmage, so we've got some time to get things right. Have faith, it will come.

Too bad about Jacobs--that guy just isn't durable. Sounds like Antonio is a keeper. Also good to hear about Taylor. The kid loves to play ball.

Also, it seems that we never really even tried to run the ball. Remember, Portis is our best player on offense, pretty much. That will help everything on offense.

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

I've heard alot of people were dissapointed with Ramsey today. All I've heard out of camp was that he was tearing up, so its a little dissapointing. Still, we've been in camp about 5 days, so I'm not that worried at all about Patrick. If he is doing poorly in the final preseasoner against Baltimore, then I'll worry. From what I heard he started out really poorly and improved towards the end of the game. I'm excited to see the Carolina game. Hopefully everything will come together.

BTW; Did Portis play today?

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

I was there and I was so disappointed. I was hoping to see a change in the offense. Nothing but the same thing as last year. 5 yard curls and screens. Antonio Brown looked extremely good. Blazing speed and made some nice sharp cuts. Portis did not play at all. For all you D. McCants fans out there some bad news. He only played 2nd team special teams. I saw Chris Cooley walking off the field and I yelled Warpath.net, don't know if he heard though lol. One thing I was impressed with was the amount of people that were there. They said 35,000 for a scrimmage is amazing. Also, Ray Lewis proved to me again how awesome he is. He had at least 12 tackles, 3 sacks and had a pick, rediculous. Our middle linebacker position looked a little suspect. No one really grabbed my attention there. I know its early, but was maybe hoping to see someone shine a bit. That's bout it from my point of view.

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

Yeah, after hearing a lot about Ramsey in camp and then hearing how he did in the scrimmage troubles me a bit. But it was good to hear Campbell was doing well...hopefully he isn't a starter for another few years.

Thanks for the report, skin4life28. On Gibbs presser, he said Dmac had stiches in his hand, so they held him out of the O stuff. (Can't help his chances being hurt, though...)

Gibbs press conference is up on skins.com:http://www.redskins.com/

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

I went to the game today and from what I saw Portis was in but didnt touch the ball very much.I didnt think Ramsey looked that bad for being the first scrimmage. When they were doing the seven on seven drill I saw him whip two touchdown passes between two defenders, it was pretty sweet.also we blocked a punt attempt and that fired me right up.I was also pleasntly surprised to see just how many redskin fans were there. I say it was close to 60/40.There was a group of redskin fans playing beer pong in the parking lot and when I walked by in my Arrington jersey one of them handed me a card for extremeskins.com. So I told them I was already a member of the warpath and he said thats cool, so long as were all skins fans.other than that I didnt feel like we stunk the place up so everybody just chill out and wait for the real thing.

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

Good post, love them hogs. Nice to hear the skins community was representing.

Until Ramsey wins us some games, he's going to be under the microscope, in DC and elsewhere.

Re: Anyone see the scrimmage?

It sounds like there are somethings for the o-line to work on. Guys, don't forget that these games don't count. Ramsey got sacked four times, but sometimes in this kind of scrimmage, we are trying to see what how we can control a defense. I know that sounds crazy, but coaches like to put the offense in a few bad positions to see how the players react and also see if defenses act predictably. Then, they can design ways to exploit it.

If anyone noticed, when Ramsey got sacked, what formation were we in? 2 or 3 wideouts? Anything consistant? Were we being balanced or just passing?

It will probably take our o-line longer to gel than any other part of the team, but does anyone here not think this line is better than last years? I think that even with last years line and Gibbs familiarity with Portis, he could see 1600+ yards rushing. That should help keep those blitzers in check!
