When does Arrington hit the field?

I get the feeling that Lavar won't start practicing until after the 1st preseason game and probably won't play in a preseason game until the last one.. I just don't see them risking his health for the season in a preseason game. We need him to play the full 16 games in order for the defense to approach last year's level..

i think he will be practicing by the end of training camp, but he will only see limited action in the preseason as a precaution.

He can't even run sprints right now. Theres something fishy going on with his injury. I think the FO is trying keep on the DL, but something is obviously wrong. I mean he had his surgery in February (I could be wrong). I would imagine that it's healed by now, but I'm no doctor.

Hopefully he plays in a couple of preseason games. He needs to get back soon!

I agree. LaVar should be in practice as soon as he can, but not play in any preseason.

GOD, FOOTBALL IS FINALLY HERE!

(Sorry, I just had to let that out)

No need to rush him back.

I'm sure they're going to be really careful with him.

i think he had surgery in april. plus i remember hearing them say he wouldn't be ready for the minicamps, and he would miss the beginning of training camp.

They already rushed him back once. Look what happened. We will see Lavar when he is ready to play at 100%. Hopefully that will be sooner rather then later.
I really think he is getting close. You could see him running yesterday on Redskins.com

Re: When does Arrington hit the field?

But what's the story with his knee? I thought initially it was a "minor knee injury" that would only sideline him for about 2 to 3 weeks, then sometime around the bye week (if my memory serves correct) still no Lavar. I just don't understand how it turned into all of this. I'm aware that he re-injured it somewhere along the way...but one of you guys please tell me exactly what type of injury was/is it??? ACL tear, severe sprain, what????

Re: When does Arrington hit the field?

...can I also add that I can't help to notice striking similarities between his knee sitiuation and that of Barry Bonds. Both expected to be back much sooner that originally planned, both missed the majority of their respective seasons, both lashed out at the media...maybe I'm blowing things out of proportion here but do you think it has anything to do with the "S" word??

Re: When does Arrington hit the field?

This isn't Bonds milking his injury, not even close.

He originally had his knee scoped in September but when he tried to come back too quickly he reaggravated it and he ended up with a bone bruise.

He had it scoped again in April, I think they're just being overly cautious with him now.

Re: When does Arrington hit the field?

So what's the significance of a scope vs. ,let's say an ACL tear? I mean, I know an ACL could be season ending. But what I'm asking is was there any structural damage to the knee or ligaments....forgive me man, I know you're not a doctor but you seem on top of it...

Re: When does Arrington hit the field?

Didn't Lavar re-injure his knee during the filming of the Eastern Motors commercial. "At Eastern Motors get your car today..."

As for Lavar liking the juice, there's just no way, his head is a 3rd of what Barry's is.

A scope is a non-invasive procedure normally used to clean up loose bodies on the knee, such as loose cartilage or a small meniscus tear. Typically the healing process is short, a few weeks.

Surgery to repair a torn ACL is a major procedure in which the torn ligament is repaired. Since the ACL is the main ligament in the knee the recovery period is about 6-8 months. I'm not sure which surgery LaVar had, but he did say it was more serious than the team initially reported so I'm sure they'll be treating him with kids gloves from now on. LaVar is familiar with the defense, there's no rush to get him on the field since he's pretty much a known commodity. The main focus will probably be his conditioning, but I doubt that we see him until the last preseason game.

I'm not a doctor, although I do play one on tv.

Good stuff! Basically, this type of injury should have mimimal impact on Lavar's explosiveness and that sort of thing. thanks guys

I may be wrong on this one, but if memory serves me correctly, the only person that rushed LaVar back was LaVar. He insisted on taking the field when he wasn't completely healed. Don't get me wrong, I respect the hell out of players that play hurt, but he started bitching about how the FO handled his injury, when in acutality he had the final say so on when he took the field.
