Dr. Z on Gibbs

What do you guys make of these comments by SI's Dr. Z?

"The real reason Joe Gibbs came back was because his son, Coy, the ex-Stanford linebacker, wasn't doing too well on the NASCAR circuit and wanted a shot at being a coach in the NFL. So he has a job on Joe's staff (Quality Control Coach/Offense). ...

From someone familiar with the modus operandi of Redskins owner Dan Snyder: "If Gibbs runs into problems, Snyder won't go after him, not the first year, anyway. He'll go after one of his assistants. With Norv Turner, it was Mike Nolan; with Marty Schottenheimer, it was Jimmy Raye; with Steve Spurrier, it was Marvin Lewis. In the second year, it'll be Gibbs' turn." ... "

Dr. Z is just looking for something to write. Dr. Z is worse than Pastabelly. I thought this has already been brought up. Coy did tell his dad that since his racing career was not doing so good he wanted to try coaching. Thus sparked Coach to get back in. Coach could of easly got Coy a job anywhere in the league.

First off, Marvin Lewis didn't get run off by Snyder. He took the head coaching job for which he was long overdue. Everyone knew that was coming, even when Lewis was hired, so how can he blame Snyder for that?

Zimmerman and King make me sick to my stomach. In fact, I have a feeling that source Zimmerman says is "familiar with the modus operandi of Redskins owner Dan Snyder" probably is Peter King.

Yes, Gibbs' son wanted to learn something about coaching-- but does any sane person think that was the primary motivator for Gibbs' return? Hell no! Gibbs came back because the situation was right, the money was great, and more than anything else-- he wanted the challenge. He thrives on the challenge.

The only thing that article told me is that Zimmerman doesn't know jacks%$# about Joe Gibbs, and he has to rely upon Peter King to provide him with the appropriate anti-Snyder spin on the whole deal.

Z's crazy if he thinks Lewis was chased out of town.

Typical Skins hate from Z.. He's an admitted Redskins hater with a personal bias against Snyder.. I don't even read that clown anymore.

This is what happened, Gibb's has stayed out of football for as long as he did because of his wife, he had a desire to come back but his wife had enough of football, infact she was the one who essentially stopped him from going to atlanta a few year's ago, [thank you mrs. Gibb's] he was starting to get the fever again but he respected his wife's wishes, but she did not like the fact that coy was in the racing circuit [I don't know if he actually raced the car's or mrs. Gibb's was afraid that he might try his hand at driving] so she gave JG the ok to coach again, knowing that would get her son out of the racing circuit, but JG told his son before he came back that he wasen't doing it for him, he was doing it because he wanted to, joe could of gotten coy a job in a heartbeat if he wanted, he didn't have to take on a coaching job to do that, but so long as you can kill 2 bird's with 1 stone why not! as far as I can tell coy is starting out at the bottom and knowing how Gibb's operate's the only way he will move up is if he truly earn's it, as far as snyder running off Gibb's Snyder is as big a fan if not bigger of Gibb's than any of us here, I actually find that funny.

For someone who "just came back for his son", Gibbs sure has dove headfirst back into coaching.

Zimmerman is a joke.

Absolute horseshit from a horses ass. I'm sure part of the reason Coach Gibbs came back is because it hurts to see how bad the Skins have become.

Well I think we all agree that these comments are both ignorant and absurd. Especially the notion that Snyder pushed Lewis out the door. Lewis, as Crisp said, was long overdue for a coaching opportunity and he got it. What was Dr. Z hoping for? That Lewis would get a head coaching job and Snyder wouldn't let him go?

Does this b*tch have an e-mail? I'm sick of his crap. I can't even read my SI anymore because of this crack head. He just pisses me off. I feel like going on a Winslow rant minus the "soldier" statement after reading this.

I'm sorry but if Gibbs wants to find a job for his son he'd have no problem. Hell, all he has to do is tell one of the coaches in the language to hire him and they’d do it….it would be smart thing to do. You gets Gibbs’ son on your staff and you could potential have access to Gibbs' himself.

Put simply, Dr. Z is an idiot and one of the reasons why SI is dying.

And the rest of that article was filled with nonesense about cheescake and brunches. What the F*** are they paying him for? I coulda written a better article here in Brooklyn. Sportscurm.'s reports about the owners meeting are a thousand times better.

Exactly, I mean Gibbs could have just stayed on as part-owner with the Falcons and had his son added to that staff
