Late Round Picks
I understand McCune. Hes definatly a canidate for middle linebacker spot. Even if he doesnt start he should be a great back up. But where do you guys see the others fitting in. I dont see how we could make room for both White and Nemo. I also think we already have plenty of depth at linebacker so i dont see where Newberry will fit in either. Please discuss.

Re: Late Round Picks
Hard to say until after camp is over. My thoughts are White will take a roster spot as an H Back, and as Chris Cooley told us himself he will be the TE. Nemo will make the team and as for the Linebackers, we will most likely keep our rookies and let one of the vets go. I see both as special teams standouts.

Re: Late Round Picks
white and nemo are mainly for short yardage, white can play h-back and nemo is probably the best FB in the draft this year, so he could do that too (or serve depth behind sellers)... newberry has played FB and LB i think, he's mainly a special teamer though ince i've heard he's not the greatest LB... Mccune is a monster and hopefully he can become a beast MLB, but he's got some learning to do first. He was mainly taken on potential, and he dropped in the draft due to his age and limited playing time.

Re: Late Round Picks
I watched Nemo play against VMI a couple of times here and he flat out RAN PEOPLE OVER. I've never seen anyone run so hard in my life.

Re: Late Round Picks
White will be the backup at h-back, perhaps freeing up Cooley to play more true TE, Nemo short yardage and special teams, Newberry is a very bright guy that could end up being another Antonio Pierce type player.

Re: Late Round Picks
We do have a lot of LBs and RBs on the roster now. Amongst the LBs, it will all come down to who plays best on special teams. Clifton Smith, Khary Campbell, Newberry, McCune, and Brian Allen are all going to have to battle on special teams to see who makes the team.
Of course Arrington, Washington, Lemar Marshall, and Warrick Holdman all seem to be locks for the roster. And I think they'll keep Chris Clemons for pass rushing situations. As for those other guys, it seems like whoever plays best on special teams will get the remaining spots. I think McCune will definitely earn a spot, Newberry probably has a good chance too. I'm not sure how many LBs are typically carried though. On RBs, we'll keep both White and Broughton I'd imagine. They'll play roles in short yardage packages, no doubt. They both pack a punch. And then special teams as well. |

Re: Late Round Picks
Special teams is important to Gibbs. If he thought these guys could contribute this year, I'm sure he drafted them for that. That's more important than drafting a position of relative need with a person who won't contribute.

Re: Late Round Picks
Speaking of LaVar, anyone hear anything about his condition?
