NASA may bend rules to launch Discovery

http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercu...n/12213837.htm

Since they're coming off a major disaster, does bending the rules to force a launch make much sense??

Re: NASA may bend rules to launch Discovery

I could not view without signing up. Without reading the article I would have a hard time believing that they would bend the rules. If this ever got out or there was a problem to much sh__ would hit the fan if they did bend the rules. Did they have an inside source that leaked the info?

I don't think so. A lot of these people are way too up their own asses to realize that bending rules could end up with more people losing their lives.

Maybe but they also value their jobs and they have great pride in what they do. I remember the news showing the control room when they lost the last shuttle and the people look devastated. Remember they work a long time with these astronauts before they go into space and I would think someone would get the word out if they knownly where endangering their lives.

doesn't make any sense to me, however, these guys are qualified professionals, and if they had to shut down the launch, they would...

Well they made it off the ground and are now traveling 17,000 mph. The time to start worring now is for their landing a part we never realy thought about until 2003.
