Life Decision
Well, I've decided to get a jersey and I need some help from the guys on the warpath, seeing as how this will be my first jersey I need a little advise!
1: Sizing. How do I tell. I'm not a really big guy, normally wear medium shirts and such. Is there a chart somewhere? Or do I just try them on. 2: Authentic or Replica. What's the difference in the two. Is the authentic worth the extra cash? 3: Where to get it. Should I pick one up at training camp or order/go buy one at a store? Does it matter? 4: Who to get. I was going to get Smoot last year, but wanted to make sure his contract got renewed. Glad I held off! Now I'm thinking about Taylor (scares me because of his number change more than his legal problems), Washington (No real downside here), Portis (kinda cliche), Cooley (again, no big downside here), Jacobs (A guy I've really liked since we drafted him. This one could be very hard to find and it's a risky one too. Yet to see anything from him.), Rodgers has also been growing on me. Rookies are scary to pick though!

Re: Life Decision
My advice: NEVER buy a jersey of any new or young player. I would only buy a jersey of a Life Long Redskins or one that retired a Redskin. I only have 1 jersey now and it is a 1945 Throwback with the #45
Get one from the alltime greats. Sonny J. Sam Huff Art Monk D. Greene Doug Williams Lavar A. John Riggins Sammy Baugh Joe T. Keep an eye on Ebay for jerseys too. http://search.ebay.com/redskins-jers...nsQ2CQ20jersey

As far as players go, get who you like, I mean you say that rookies are scary but that Rogers is starting to grow on you, then go replica with him at first. I currently have jerseys of D. Green, S. Davis both authentic and replica, L. Arrington authentic, and S.Taylor replica. I would seriously look at ebay first, you get the best deals there, I have bought two jerseys off of ebay, both authentic and as a total I spent like $60 or $70, which is about as much as a replica jersey. But that is all the help that I can offer, hope you get some kind of info from this...

Re: Life Decision
If you want a current player, I would stick with the replicas.
The authentics are really nice, once you get one you won't want to go back to the replicas. Everything is stitched on with the authentics, the name, numbers, etc. With the replicas everything is screened on. The only bad thing I see with the authentics is because it's so nice, I don't want to wear it as much because I don't want to mess it up, spill food on it, etc. Ebay has some great deals on authentics. You can find them for $100 and under sometimes. You have to be careful sometimes though. They are so cheap because they are either overstock or irregulars. Nothing wrong with the overstocks but the irregulars suck. I got a Portis authentic not too long ago and it's a slight irregular, some of the stitching is frayed, not a huge deal but it bugs me anyway. I just got a Doug Williams Mitchell & Ness throwback for $60. I can't find anything wrong with it. You just have to research the buyer's feedback and don't be afraid to ask them questions before bidding. There are a ton of Arrington authentics on Ebay right now. I have two, one in white and one in the 75th anniversary, both are great jerseys and I think I paid about $150 combined. |

Re: Life Decision
Besides getting the obvious neccessities for any true Redskins fan (Ade Jimoh and one day wonder Zach Mills) I would also resist getting a current player.. The 2 jerseys I have buried in my closet are Champ and Rod Gardner.. I won't be buying another one any time soon..

Re: Life Decision
get whoever you like the most, current or past player. make sure you get it a little bigger than what you normally would wear, you'll want to wear a sweatshirt or something underneath the jersey on cool weather days. ebay is a great place to get a good deal.

Re: Life Decision
I wear L size T shirts. I got a DG XL and had it trimmed and hemmed at the bottom so that it didn't hang down like a skirt. Fits nice, plenty of room to wear a sweatshirt under it, etc.

Re: Life Decision
Pick a jersey you'll get mileage out of. I have an Arrington jersey. The guy is getting on my nerves but they signed him up for a while so it won't be relegated to the back of the closet like my Champ Bailey jersey. No jersey in my collection could top the Daryl Green jersey, talk about mileage! Old players are always cool (Riggins jersey is next on my wishlist). I also enjoy rare jerseys no one has. I saw a guy with a Cooley jersey once and thought it was the coolest thing ever. The next most obscure I saw was a dude with a Turk jersey. Get Cooley or an old player.

Re: Life Decision
As far as a player, I'm looking hard at getting a Chris Cooley Jersey. Yeah, I know he is still young and all that mumbo jumbo, but I really like the guy. Ramsey is my favorite guy on the team right now (already have his jersey), but if I didn thave it, I wouldnt buy it until I knew he would be kept.

Re: Life Decision
What do I get if I buy a custom Zack Mills jersey and wear it to a game?
(answer: beer thrown in my face) But I really would do it for some reward/motivation.

Re: Life Decision
I don't recommend getting a jersey for any current players. They're always changing teams, and it's rare to find a guy who sticks with us through thick and thin. Get a jersey for a legendany player like Sonny Jurgensen, Sammy Baugh, Art Monk, Charlie Taylor, Darrell Green, Monte Coleman . . . (you get the idea).

Re: Life Decision
if you go to some pro shops they sell the replica-authentics, which is a hybrid of the two. it has stitched on numbers but replica names. they are rare. the cost is cheaper than authentics and better quality than replicas

Re: Life Decision
yeah, don't buy a current player, I've made that mistake twice. My first jersey was a Gus Ferrotte jersey, and he sucked and then two years ago I bought a Coles jersey because he had that long contract and I thought he would be around awhile, but we all know how that turned out.

Re: Life Decision
you can't worry about who might and might not be on the team in a year or two, if there is a current player that you really like , then get his jersey.
here are a couple safe bets (in case your a worrier) arrington rogers springs washington portis moss cooley jansen samuels |
