Re: Redskins fire GM Scot McCloughan
I said in the other thread, Snyder is the new Al Davis. He's just younger but perhaps even more senile.

Re: Redskins fire GM Scot McCloughan
believe it was becaues HE decided not to show up for the combine for as HE wanted to dry out . . . and then continued to drink . . . i read somewhere the picture of him at the grocery store yesterday he was there to buy more booze . . . they gave him plenty of chances and he drank his way away from them.
from Keims article: "A source with knowledge of the situation said it was McCloughan's decision not to attend the combine and that he and team agreed on his grandmother's death as the reason. The source also said it was McCloughan's decision to leave the facility in late February." you can only blame Snyder and Allen for hiring a drunk in the first place . . . and giving him so many chances . . . but you can also see why as he did give them a taste of success |

Re: Redskins fire GM Scot McCloughan
They knowingly hired a functioning alcoholic who was let go from two previous teams. He relapses and it's all of a sudden a surprise? If it was just the drinking, I'm fairly certain they had built-in contingency plans to make sure the machine kept running (while riding it out with SM). It should have taken a monumental faceplant to fire him- like a video of SM streaking across the 50 yard line to Danny's office and taking a leak all over his desk going viral type faceplant.
One player said he was drunk. However: "Of a half-dozen Redskins players reached Thursday afternoon, none said they’d ever seen McCloughan drink in the locker room. All but one said they never saw him act if he weren’t composed and in control. They added that they never felt he wasn’t able to do his job, and they seemed surprised the question was being raised. “I don’t know what their issue is with him,” one player said, “but all the players love Scot.” This move reeks of jealousy just waiting to use drinking as the excuse. Snake in the grass. |

And he probably peace'd out from the combine because he couldn't take any more of Allen's ego. |

Re: Redskins fire GM Scot McCloughan
I'm hearing that the reports of Scotty falling off the wagon is a smear job and that firing him was actually a power grab.
