What are the Skins next move?

If you could not see it already the redskins have revolutionized the way the off-season period is handled. We always each and every year find a way to beat the system, do better than the other teams, it awesome to be apart of as a fan.

Now what I want to know from the forum is what do you think the skins will do next as far as acquisitions what would you like them to do next. Here are my 2 scenarios I could see being played out. I know a lot of you may disagree but this is all in good fun :thumb:

First scenario: a player for player trade between the Skins and the Steelers. we give them trotter and a Hasselbeck for Jason Gildon and a 4rth round in 2005.

Second scenario: Trotter and Gardner traded to the chiefs for their first and Jason Dunn plus an undisclosed draft pick in this years or next years draft.

I look forward to see what you guys have but please lets stay football related and realistic.

I expect much less in the ways of trades/compensation. If we get anything higher than a 4th rounder for either, I'll be psyched. Not with the draft this deep in wideouts. Trotter is suspect, and he will be cut. Unless people get hyped about him and generate a buzz, he'll be cut or traded for a low pick.

Taylor or Winslow at #5, and the rest is hard working, blue collar skins guys, all from round 5 and below, or from cap cut FAs. Then we look for Gibbs to find the next Joe Jacoby/Jeff Bostic/Ade Jimoh (!!) in camp. He already said that he expected that sort of player to make an impact. They always do.

We killed Trotter's trade value (if he had any) by disinviting him from mini-camp. That sent the signal to the rest of the NFL that he'll be released, and I don't see teams getting into a bidding war for him. We'll get a 6th rounder for him at best. I think we'll end up releasing him though.

Gardner still has some value, but I agree that he'd be more valuable if the draft wasn't so WR rich. We'll get no better than a 4th and probably a 5th for Rod.

We'll release Trotter, but I dont really see us doing anything with Gardner, I'm pretty sure we will keep him. I just wanna see Sean Taylor taken with the 5th, and I'll be happy

As Joe emphasizes the stellar play and character of Taylor Jacobs, and as we are going to sign Darnerian McCants to a long contract, and seeing as how we have just signed our old veteran James Thrash, and looking at our meager draft selections after the 5th pick, it seems like the writing is on the wall - I think Rod Gardner will be traded.

McCants is a possession receiver and that is Gardner's game. There are too many good wide receivers on our team and too little time for them to play. Rod Gardner is entering a contract year, and I think the time is now to trade him. He's a good player and he should net us a decent draft choice.

Jeremiah Trotter is probably going to be cut. I don't think it is likely that we will be able to trade him. Kevin Mitchell has been playing well Joe informs us, but I do think that we will make a move and sign a veteran middle linebacker for extra experience and depth. So, one possibility is that we will sign Mike Barrow. Meanwhile we will see if one of our young linebackers can win the job in training camp.

Probably Kellen Winslow will sign an agent other than the Postons. The word is out that we won't draft him if he goes with those guys. It is likely the Redskins would be Winslow's first choice of a team to play for. However, if for some reason he wants the Postons, we will draft Taylor as Joe was outlining, and that means we would have to obtain another player in free agency or a trade for H-back, because we need someone to go with Mike Sellers. But Winslow is I think a 95% bet to be a Redskin.

Yea I think Winslow will be a Skin, expecially becuase of the relations Gibbs had with his father. I think we should keep Gardner to, I dont think he can command a big contract and having so great depth at receiver, along with portis and Winslow would make our O unstopable under gibbs.

How about break the Dolphins record and going 19-0 and finally shutting up all the critics!!

Word is that Winslow realizes that many teams will bypass him in the draft if he selects the Postons, so he will probably wait to name the Postons as his agents until after the draft.

Does it say somewhere that the Postons are a front runner to be his agent. Most Miami players all have Rosenhaus, who is a great players agent but always commands a lot of money. Of course Snyder has wined and dined him so many times they are buddys now

The last thing the Skins need is to draft a player that holds out... Gibbs wouldnt tolerate that, he doesnt care what your salary is, he gives the best and hardest working players the start

I forgot about Gibbs being the Offensive Coordintor in San Deigo when Winslow was there. There is a definate tye there. Gotta make you think that Jr. is the front runner. As far as going 19-0 that would be great. You would not hear of the fin boys toasting anymore. Something we could do on the board.
