Ridiculous cheat
I just stumbled across something fun for franchise mode. In week 5, before the trade deadline, you can trade STRAIGHT UP your draft picks for the picks of the worst team in the league.
So if you trade with a team that is 0-5, you will probably get a top 5 pick, no matter who well you did. As you can imagine, drafting in the top 5 of each round will make your franchise kick ass. |

Re: Ridiculous cheat
I really hope with these next gen systems the AI will continue to improve. It's still way to easy to rip off the computer with trades. It's gotten better, some guys are untradeable, but there's still plenty of room for improvement.

Re: Ridiculous cheat
It's worse than you think. You can trade your #1, and get a #1 and more. Occaisionally I've gotten a 1, 2, and 4.
Here's a better one. During the draft, when you are offered a trade from another team, review it. Then add whatever you want from them - their best players, their other picks, anything. They will always accept (at least in the PC version).

Re: Ridiculous cheat
Oh yeah, I've known about that cheat for a long time. Here's a double cheat - in the pre-season, trade for the team's picks that won the Super Bowl (i.e. your 1st for the SB winner's 1st and 3rd). Then, hold onto those picks, and after the preseason is over, trade those picks (which are now the most highly valued) for the team with the worst record. If you work it right, you can end up with the Top 3 draft picks.

Re: Ridiculous cheat
The best thing though is to use the cheat to screw the hell out of the Cowboys. I always make sure the Boys are drafting with the 32nd pick. Because they get the worst draft picks, the Boys always go to free agency to get older, and overpaid players who underperform (like the 'Skins' 2000 season every year). It's pretty f'ing sweet.

Re: Ridiculous cheat
I always save right before the draft and see where the players I scouted go. Then I trade for those picks and end up saving a lot of money on signing guys who fall to the later rounds. Plus if you work it right you can always get some awesome steals in the 4-7 rounds.
Then I sign them to seven year contracts with no signing bonus so the are easy to cut when I find someone better.
