Redskins sign free safety
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2066672
the redskins signed free safety cory hall, who previously played for the falcons. i think this move has something to do with sean taylor holding out, i think they are preparing for the worst if he doesn't attend any practices or minicamps. Washington Redskins: Former Falcons free safety Cory Hall agreed Monday to a one-year deal with the Redskins. He will sign for $565,000. Hall was considered one of the top free-agent safeties in the past couple of years, but things didn't work out in Atlanta; he was released by the Falcons after two seasons. Though he was on the Cowboys' short list, Hall didn't want to wait for an offer from Dallas. The 28-year-old Hall was a third-round draft choice of the Bengals in 1999 and played four seasons for Cincinnati, starting his final two years. The 6-foot, 213-pound Hall played his college ball at Fresno State. The Redskins have good depth at the safety position with Sean Taylor, Matt Bowen and Pierson Prioleau.

Re: Redskins sign free safety
With Taylor, Bowen, Lott, Clark, Prioleau and Hall, we've got 1 or 2 too many safeties. It should be interesting to see who gets the ax.

Re: Redskins sign free safety
No problem, I have been having plenty of those lately!
This will be interesting to see who gets cut out of our secondary - but I suppose competition is best for establishing solid players.

Re: Redskins sign free safety
Is this just in case Taylor is really as wack out as he seems? To me it seems nobody but Taylor no what the heck is going on in his head.

The more I read, the more I think that Bowen is going to get the ax.

Re: Redskins sign free safety
I don't think this is a move that has anything to do with Taylor, sounds more like a move for depth and to possibly replace Bowen as someone pointed out.

Re: Redskins sign free safety
I agree. I think Bowen will be given his walking papers. Sean will be in camp. I think media is making more out of that situation than is warranted. Yes he should be here working out with the guys but those sessions are called voluntary for a reason. He will be here. Of that you can bank on.

Re: Redskins sign free safety
I think that Bowen will be on the outs. I'm a big Sean Taylor and everynbody knows that but hey the guy will be in camp. He knows that we will be the captain of this defense one day. Ryan Clark is not going anyway for the way that he played last year for us. Prioleau and Hall just got here so the rest is history.

Re: Redskins sign free safety
Bowen will make $1M this year in base salary and $2M next year, that's high for a backup safety. Luckily his SB was reasonable, $1.6M spread over 4 years. He definitely looks like a possible camp cut.
