Gibbs Skeptical that Gardner Will Return
After being miserable as a Redskin in 2004, Rod Gardner asked Redskins' head coach Joe Gibbs that he be traded or released. Gibbs, wanting to develop a core group of Redskins who wanted be in D.C., seemed willing to honor Gardner's request and the team sought to trade him prior to last month's draft. However, no other team was willing to part with Washington's asking price of a 3rd round draft pick.
Shortly after the draft, Gibbs supposedly made efforts to have Gardner return to the team for the 2005 season. Gardner, who is entering the final year of his contract, balked at Gibbs' overtures and failed to attend the off-season workouts. Today, Gibbs informed the media that he is "skeptical" that Gardner would return to the team. So, with no one willing to trade a 3rd round pick for Gardner and Gibbs having made public Gardner's unwillingness to return to the team, what should the 'Skins do? |

Cut, cut, cut, if that's his attitude.

Kill him, cut off his head and put it on a pike as a warning to other malcontents.
No for real I say might as well drop him I don't see trade value and we could use the cap space.

If we catn get anythign for him dont cut him, hes cheap and has a ton of incentive to procduce this year. its his contract year and wants to get big money to go elsewhere.

OK....Moss, Jacobs, Patten, Gardener and Brown are our recievers for now.
Does that mean Thrash, McCants and Holiday will be cut?... They are all big recievers.... Gardener will be the only one with some size left If Gardener is gone then who will take his place? Why bring in Holiday? Competition will already be fierce for Gardeners spot. Remember the Smurfs? Are we going small ball now? Who do you think will be our starting five? Forgive my curiosity.

IMO, here is our starting WR trio, Moss, Jacobs, Patten, with Thrash and McCants working in on other packages and Brown may see some time at wide receiver but mostly he and Chad Morton will be our return men...

I agree, I wouldn't reward him for being a no show when mandatory camp starts, I would start fining him the max every day he's out, and let him know we are content to allow him to sit the bench for the season driving his market value down from inactivity. He want's out then he does everything he can to see we can't recoupe so much as a 3rd rd draft pick, I would take the bull by the horns and in so doing send a message to anyone else who want's to play games. |

Re: Gibbs Skeptical that Gardner Will Return
If things can't be smoothed over with Gardner just cut him and save the $2M.
This thing about needing a big WR is overrated anyway. What good did he do us the last few years?? Production is the key, not size. |
