interesting opinion from draft blitz

Washington Redskins
Carlos Rogers will replace Fred Smoot easily and should be better than him in a year or two. Jason Campbell adds more controversy to the quarterback position, especially considering they traded away a 2006 first round pick for him. Manuel White and Madison Hedgecock are essentially the same player and will be used as short-yardage and goal line backs here. Robert McCune and Jared Newberry are both active linebackers that play with a ton of heart and are always around the ball.
Projected starters: Three. As much as Joe Gibbs loves rookies (sarcasm), he has no choice but to give the ball to Campbell now. Rogers is a no-brainer to start as a rookie and should have a lot of success. Robert McCune is my pick to start the season at middle linebacker.

Grade: B. If they can trade Patrick Ramsey for a 2006 pick, this grade goes up. Drafting Jason Cambell makes zero sense and I cannot see the Redskins winning until they designate a starting QB and go with him throughout his lumps.

sorry if anyone posted this...didnt see it anywhere

Agree they need to pick a QB and stick with him.
Disagree it should be Campbell.
Expecting McCune to be ready to start game 1 might be a little optomistic, but I do like him and expect the position will be his before the end of the year.

This is an interesting assessment, but I too disagree that it should be Campbell. I just think the mere fact that they would hypothetically say Ramsey was the man and then trade him, would create a ton of locker room contreversy. If somthing like that were to happen. I disagree with that. I think the other two guys will start as well, or at least both see significant playing time, since GW dosent really have "starters".

Very good thinking... That would be terrible on Gibbs part to say things like that and then go back on his word. Like I've said before, he stuck with Brunell until the bitter end.

There is no way Gibbs starts a rookie QB, no way unless we're absolutely decimated by injuries.

I was confused myself. If you can't even get the names right that knocks your credibility down a notch in my book.

Re: interesting opinion from draft blitz

The best rationale I've heard so far for drafting Campbell. No one thinks anything of Brunell these days, but I agree with matty in that the only way the rook hits the field is if the injury bug hits us pretty hard. At least that's the way it should go, but we'll see.

Campbell reportedly looked good in minicamp and even got some props from John Clayton in a chat when he was asked what rookies stood have stood out so far.

I wouldn't make too much of it though, after all, it is only May and it's minicamp we're talking about.

Wait til the bullets are live.

Re: interesting opinion from draft blitz

i think ramsey starts this season and if he plays good then he finishes the season as the starter. after the season is over the skins could trade him for a #1 pick, if campbell is ready.
if ramsey plays great and leads the skins into the playoffs then he stays for a while regardless of campbell's readyness.
if ramsey stinks up the place(pulls a brunell)then he is yanked from the starting spot , replaced by campbell and then traded or cut after the season.

Re: interesting opinion from draft blitz

i will pull out my hair if ramsey gets injured during the season and they start brunell in place of him. even if campbell had no clue how the offense was run, i would still start him ahead of brunell for two reasons.
1. accuracy - i was watching a game with brunell in it last year, and it looked like he threw the ball to where the receiver was 5 seconds ago, there was nobody within ten yards of the ball and i knew he wasn't throwing it away or anything.
2. arm strength - brunell just doesn't have enough arm strength anymore, and campbell is in his prime.
