If RGIII can't comfortably navigate a three-step drop in August, it won't matter what was said in February.

Yet once again everyone in the media is forgetting Scot McC's comments about RG3 (not giving up on him) and maybe that has influenced this decision. But I guess this sort of stuff doesn't sell papers.

Re: Why name RG3 the starter this soon?
Regardless of what is what, we have to not only hope but expect that Griffin III will be much improved. But if Daniel Snyder is still stirring the pot then he needs to just stop. It's getting old and it's getting tired. Maybe Snyder didn't have his hand in Gruden's announcement at all. Maybe Gruden is giving RG3 enough rope to hang himself with in the case that he doesn't improve. In case RG3 doesn't make the most out of this last opportunity the Redskins should move on from him or make him a wide receiver.

Re: Why name RG3 the starter this soon?
Look at it this way RGIII as always said he wanted a Coach who had his back. MS said he didn't want RGIII he wanted Payton can't blame him but he settled for RGIII. JG came in 2nd week RGIII got hurt JG said I'm rolling with KC. JG was brought in to get RGIII going and the Offense moving neither happened with consistency. There trying to do the I thing they should of done from the beginning have his back or at least let it appear that way. HTTR.

Everyone gets all butt hurt about Sally Jenkins. She likes ripping the Redskins, but nothing in her article isn't truthful. Everything in there is spot on.

Re: Why name RG3 the starter this soon?
This sums it up for me.....
"Two head coaches in succession have had major problems with Griffin – two good, proven offensive minds that know how to teach young quarterbacks and get them to the postseason. Neither has been allowed to do his job. The result is that Griffin is three-quarters of the way toward being ruined. The Redskins have a young quarterback whose ego is so eggshell that he apparently cracks at the mere idea of competing for his position. " More like our owner has the egg shell ego due the embarrasingly terrible choices he has made over the last 15 years........so keeps on doing it. Snyder version 25.6 |

Re: Why name RG3 the starter this soon?
Im surprised so many are taking it as him being appointed as the starter. It came across to me as the skins enter training camp listing him as number 1 but never did I take it as a guarantee that he is the opening game starter. Sounded like Gruden was putting him on top of the depth chart for the sake of having someone there. Being on top of the depth chart in February means nothing, so why take it as something?
If Cousins outperforms him in TC, I expect Gruden to go with Cousins, regardless of this announcement. |

Last year was an embarrassing mess, the QB carrousel needs to stop so growth can occur.
