Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
Big game against probably the best team in the division. I havent been super impressed with Philly but they can be electric.
If you watched the Eagles, they have started extremely slow in both games, only to comeback later for wins in both. So 2-0 really doesnt explain the struggles they've had with the offense, especially in the red zone. Keys for me is to out physical eagles with O and D line play. Controling the tempo with the run and hitting hard on defense, but making sure we wrap up when we tackle. Eagles love to get the ball in space to their guys so we must have our best tackling day of the season. I think we cant settle for 3 on the road with an offense that can put up 7 in bunches and Kirk cant throw ints. Run the ball effectively and we win 28-24 Skins. Cant run the ball and force Kirk to throw the entire game we lose 45-20.

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
I'm hoping that our d-line can take enough advantage of Philly's poor o-line to slow down Sproles.
We can't f'up in the tackling department, both Sproles and Shady made a lot of the Colts miss last week. On the offense, I'd like to see a steady dose of Morris. I hope we don't get cute on the playcall (no reverse plays deep in our own territory) and I don't want us to be in a position where we need to pass a lot. We will need to put the Eagles away, twice already they've come back on teams. If we're up, the offense will need to play ball control to prevent any comebacks.

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
Per Cbs Sports..... We are doomed!
Washington (1-1) at Philadelphia (2-0), 1 p.m. ET: The first annual DeSean Jackson revenge game is going to be worth watching on Sunday and not just because it's the first annual DeSean Jackson revenge game. For one, you'll likely get to see the Eagles fall behind by at least 14 points, something they've done in both games so far. After that, you'll probably see the Eagles comeback. Also, as a bonus, you get to see Kirk Cousins make his fifth career start. If you watched Andy Dalton play in Cincinnati, then you know what Jay Gruden can do with a pocket passer. If you didn't watch Dalton play in Cincinnati, well, he won a lot games with Gruden. Just not playoff games. Cousins might end up being a great fit for Gruden's offense. Redskins 27-24 over Eagles. |

It seems to me Philly is a second half team in order to beat them you can't let up and control time of possession. Heavy dose of Alfmo and short passes to open up playaction. I predict it being a low scoring game 17-14 Skins

Im not sure if Rambo made the stat column beside your basic tackle. For a db its like where you at. He didnt do his job on gameday we need players ready to play on an elite level. Even with a vet like Ryan Clark next to him year two and still couldnt get to where he needed to be. Cool name its a shame.

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
Skins look good but drop a close one because it's on the road: 28-27.
Then we'll go on a tear, including against Seattle. my two cents

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
I agree that time of possession is very important for the Skins in this game. With the extremely fast pace of the Eagles offense, our offense is going to need to give our defense as much rest as they can. If we have too many three-and-outs, our defense will be gassed in the second half and we'll probably lose.
Hopefully, we can get some early scores, go into the fourth quarter with the lead, and then execute a couple of long scoring drives.

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
It's all about turnovers, the run game, and avoiding "3 & Outs."
- Have none of the first; - Establish and maintain the second; - Minimize the third. We win. Philly's line, even with injury replacements is worlds above the Jags. Our D needs to avoid the big plays and, hopefully, with Merriweather back, our safety play will improve. They are going to get a couple explosive plays - that's okay so long as it is only a couple. A big part of the game will be whether Amerson and Hall can shut down Cooper and Maclin one on one or with minimal safety help. If safeties can focus on the run and it will significantly slow down Philly. At one point in the game Monday, John Gruden said Philly's offense has relatively few plays but is based off of singling out a defender, making him choose a path and then attacking the void he leaves. I believe that to be true. I also believe it means that good communication is imperative - knowing, trusting assignments is critical in attacking option based offenses. Get your man/your assignment and trust the guy behind or next to you is doing the same. Only swarm AFTER the offense makes its choice - and then do so FAST. As for the pace of the Philly offense, it only becomes an issue if you keep giving them the ball through turnovers or by failing to sustain drives. If Luck doesn't toss an interception, if Richardson doesn't fumble - game over Philly. On offense, Cousins and Alfmo must protect the ball. Period. If they do, Morris and the O-line is going to gash these guys for a ton. TON. of yards. (Assuming Gruden remains true to the run throughout the game! - not a given in light of his past play-calling. The man likes a good game of pitch and catch.) My biggest concern is that Philly is eminently beatable by any team that can be efficient with the ball on offense and play consistent, disciplined defense. Does anyone think that "efficient with the ball on offense and play consistent, disciplined defense" describes our team? With that said, and with a heavy dose of that oh-so-tasty burgundy Kool-Aid: Skins 27 Eagles 14

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
This is one of the four toughest games we have left on the schedule. Hawks, Niners, Birds at home, and this one.
I just want to play them tough where i can say we can beat these guys at home. If we win well that is huge because i think we have an extremely favorable schedule. We have 5-6 gimme games imo. Skins - 27 Seagulls - 24 |

Re: Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
Eagles - 30
Redskins - 21 You gotta wonder which Captain we'll get. The guy that throws multiple INTs and loses a fumble, or the guy that throws for 230 yards, 2 TDs, and no turnovers? I think he'll be somewhere in the middle. Morris will have a 100 yard day for the first time in 10 games, and also add a TD or two against an overrated Eagles' run defense. I think Andre will have a big game as well: 5 catches, 65 yards, 1 TD, and for bonus points, I predict a special teams TD. Kerrigan has the better matchup, but I think Rak has a nice game against one of the league's best. Foles doesn't play well, but McCoy has his 2014 breakout game and carries them past us. This game could be easily won by us. Foles didn't play well against both Jacksonville and Indianapolis, and I think our defense is better than either of theirs. If Morris has a huge game, Cousins protects the ball, and our defense consistently gets their offense into 3rd and longs, it probably goes our way. |

Skins vs Eagles Pre Game Thread
I think the short week will hurt the Eagles. Skins 24-17. The better D takes this one.
