That was great. Bugel is just awesome, Gibbs is so humble and focused. I hadn't heard Williams before, but I liked what he had to say. He talked a lot about speed and agression on defense, and that we would have a more agressive D then people had seen around here in a few years.
Also, he said they would definetly play some 3-4, as well as a variety of other formations (2 LBs, etc). He also said Lavar would be used in lots of ways, including maybe at some middle LB in certain packages. This guy really knows defense. It's a real cahnge from Edwards who was clearly just learning the ropes. Bugel mentioned that Dockery is real young, and needs more experience. He refered to Samuels and Thomas as warriors, and had special praise for Jansen as a player and a leader. Gibbs was talking about how they are constantly evaluating and reevaluating players, and that it will take some time. he also noted that certain great players (Bostic, Jacoby) were undrafted free agents, and they made the probowl, and that he was sure there'd be players like that this year. He also said there were 6-7 players that they were thinking about at #5 in the draft. No mention on who they are. Man, it's just great to hear his voice as the leader of the skins again! Bugel recounted the phone call when Gibbs said to him "we're going home." Gave me goosebumps to here him tell it!

What always impresses me about Gibbs and Bugel is their love for the game and the team. They have immense respect for the game and especially the Washington Redskins. They wear the burgundy and gold with pride, they understand what they built here previously and they're back to instill that high level of pride, dedication and professionalism to the organization. True professionals indeed!
They both sound like kids in a candy store, you can really tell they're loving being back in DC and getting the chance to do this all over again. I could listen to both of them talk football all day. |
