I'll be the first to say it
This is what we'll do. Stockpile picks until the last pick of the first round and ala 2002 Patrick Ramsey, we'll pick Matt Jones from Arkansas. then finish off with a corner in the second and and other picks later. Mark my words, its gona happen. Think outside the box Redskins, not to conservative

Matt Jones as a WR? Or QB? I'd like to see him in the Burgandy and Gold...but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Re: I'll be the first to say it
Is drafting Matt Jones in the first round really a smart move? If we're aiming to draft a TE or WR are better prospects out there?

Re: I'll be the first to say it
I think you're right BossHog. 1st round is too early, even if we trade down. But in the second round maybe? I don't think we need a TE. Cooley is good in the receiving role, and we can get a blocking TE fairly cheap.

I agree except for the order DHS, I believe we will deal down to the mid first and draft the best CB available, and then go after Jones in the second with what we obtain from trading down and whatever we may come back with for Gardner. |

Re: I'll be the first to say it
articles have this kid out to be the white Randy Moss and his size would destroy corners, we gota convert him to wideout not tight end. Its about creating mismatches. We may have to go after him in the 1st because he would be a early 2nd round pick and be gone by the pick we may obtained by trading down comes around, but I do like the trade down and give up Gardner situation to get a posible high 2nd round. get our second back from the saints...

Re: I'll be the first to say it
Unless Pittsburgh continues thier tradition I don't see Matt Jones going before the third round. There are better QB prospects out there and most clubs are wary of using a high pick on a convert type player. I do agree he is a hell of an athlete but he will get caught up in the numbers game.

Re: I'll be the first to say it
I DO like Jones's atheltic ability but I am VERY weary of using an early pick on him. I would like to address CB and WR with our early picks, not QB/WR prototypes.

Re: I'll be the first to say it
i would see us taking him at 32 which is more like the 1st 2nd round pick.

Re: I'll be the first to say it
If we knew the future and that we'd HAVE to take him at 32 to get him, I'd say pass. Just as someone else said, we don't have the enormous talent level that a team like the Eagles/Patriots has to take a gamble that early on someone who might not pan out.

Re: I'll be the first to say it
but then agian what if they do and we kick ourselves for not taking him. Who would have thought Michael Clayton would have been so good, but he was and alot of teams were criticized for passing him up

Re: I'll be the first to say it
It's very possible that someone might take him and groom him into a great WR. I would say that the odds of failure are about 100:1
Being a betting man, I wouldn't take those odds when there are other people who are much more likely to pan out.

Re: I'll be the first to say it
what set him apart from most is his work ethic and his ability to make plays. He did this his whole career in Arkansas. That it why I would be willing to take that chance on him. He like antwaan Randle el, not eric crouch trust me I got a feeling about him

Re: I'll be the first to say it
If we get him, I hope you're right.
To continue my betting analogy, someone will hit the jackpot if he pans out.
