Maybe I need to apologize to Sean Taylor?
I've called him a meathead more than a couple of times here. I'm still not impressed with his maturity or his ability to think before he acts, but compared to running back, Larry Ned, Taylor is a model citizen.
Here's an excerpt from my column today dealing with Larry Ned: Did I hear someone say you never heard of Larry Ned? Maybe this is the reason. Ned is a running back out of San Diego State two years ago who was drafted by the Vikings. He played mostly special teams for two seasons getting zero carries and catching one pass in 19 games. This off-season he was released by the Vikings and claimed off waivers by the Arizona Cardinals. This would seem to be a good place for someone like Ned to land since Emmitt Smith retired and there is room for someone to go in there and impress the coaching staff and get a shot as a back-up RB for an NFL team. It was March 3 when Ned was claimed by the Cards. On March 4 – the very next day – Ned was traversing the Phoenix airport and as he cleared security, he noticed a laptop computer sitting unattended. It belonged to another passenger who was going through the security inspection process but Ned decided to “appropriate it”. Once he made off with the goods, Ned must have gotten a flash of insight that there aren’t a lot of places to hide in an airport waiting area and so he tried to hide in the stall of a men’s room where he was apprehended and arrested with “the appropriated goods”. The Cards say he never even made it to their offices to sign his contract; and of course, they released him the day of his arrest. No need to administer the MENSA screening test here…

Taylor is innocent - he did nothing wrong.

Exactly. When the law says it is so, it is so. Not only that, when I read the details of his arrest, it sounded like it was VERY bogus.

Re: Maybe I need to apologize to Sean Taylor?
Sean Taylor did not drive drunk.
But he did skip out on the NFL rookie seminar. And he did play musical agents. And he could not recite the alphabet starting with "E" and going through "O" because he said he always found the alphabet "confusing". That was from his trial back in October or November or whenever. I didn't call him a meathead only because of his DUI arrest. It was merely one ingredient in the soup. But still, Taylor is a choir boy and a summa cum laude candidate compared to Larry Ned! As Bugs Bunny might have said about Mr. Ned: What a maroon!

I've had friends harassed by DC cops for no reason at all. Sean Taylor was just a victim of some mouth-breather on a power trip.

I thought it was backwards from O to E. I can't do backwards from Z to W!

Yeah that's crazy. The cops busted him when he said, "Do you want me to count O or stop before it?"

Re: Maybe I need to apologize to Sean Taylor?
Taylor may be immature and made his share of rookie mistakes on and off the field last year, BUT I still wouldn't trade him for any other young safety in the league.
I really think he's going to explode next year. |

Like I said earlier in the season... I hope that Arrington and Taylor don't miss and hit each other.

Re: Maybe I need to apologize to Sean Taylor?
Taylor was pulled over for some reason; be it speeding, or erratic driving in general, the car reeked of alcohol, he messed up his abc's (but passed other field sobriety tests), and refused to take a breathalizer. I don't quite see how being arrested under these circumstances can be classified as being harrassment. If anybody was to blame for harrassment, it would be Sean Taylor for the racial slurs he spewed at the black arresting officer.
That being said, I actually don't think that SC has to appologize for what he's said about Taylor (which I don't exactly agree with) because Taylor did do something to initiate the whole situation. He embarrassed the Redskins. Now THAT being said, Larry Ned is a moron.
