Keep 89 On the Field
This is both an emotional reaction to seeing Santana Moss having success early in this Vikings game, and at the same time a serious assertion that he should be on the field more often for the Redskins - an assertion worthy of its own thread.
I'm glad the Shanahans at least see the value in making sure he's on the field on third downs, after all he's by far our most precise route-runner. Griffin can trust that he'll be exactly where he's supposed to, especially when he needs to read a zone and settle into the right spot. But what do you think, should Moss have a starting role? Or at least be more heavily utilized?

Re: Keep 89 On the Field
Not really. Everyone in the receiving corps is benefiting from the middle of the field being wide open on crossing routes and Moss is no exception. With that said, as long as he's capitalizing on the opportunity, I would keep playing him.

Re: Keep 89 On the Field
Moss is one of those guys who is the seasoned vet that every team needs. Like Schneed said, he's exactly where he should be and this year so far he's had good hands.
That was my knock on him the past few years. That catch he made today for the first was SO key.

He played hard. Wouldn't hurt from starting him IMO. Would be better than seeing Banks go for negative yards at least once a quater.

Re: Keep 89 On the Field
Weirdly enough, when Banks is on the field during actual offensive snaps, our O truly clicks.
It's like he's this weird decoy that teams give a lot of attention to.

Re: Keep 89 On the Field
The block by Morgan at the end of the game that helped seal the corner for RG3 on his 70+ yard TD run made me realize why Shanahan really likes to have the bigger WRs on the outside; with RG3 as a running threat it's even more important to have the better blockers on the outside.
But I still think Moss should be in the slot in as many formations as possible.

Re: Keep 89 On the Field
IMO are WR core hasn't gotten so much better that there's not enough balls to go around for everyone. I'm a Moss supporter but we have an OF now that when your number is called you need to make a play or it's next man up.

Re: Keep 89 On the Field
89's two TD's vs the Turds on MNF is good enough for me !!! Moss looks good , would like to see him make some big plays for us this year .

I think Moss fits a good role as it is right now.

Re: Keep 89 On the Field
Moss is doing great, because we are using him wisely. No point in him being out there to get injured blocking. We use him in those 3 wide sets or on 3rd down in the slot. We are doing great using him wisely in this stage of his career.

Re: Keep 89 On the Field
I like us current role. Moss out of the slot on 3rd is a good option for Bob.
