LOL. Most of the olinemen beat him. Looks like he will be trying to make a team as an undrafted free agent.

Yeah, I watched him run. He looked to have been adding some bulk up top, but obviously that isn't what scouts are looking for. It made me worried about how much 'in shape' Mike Williams will be. We do need a guy who can get up field, right?

While that's pretty bad I'd still take a chance on him in the 4th or 5th round.

Re: Clarett runs a 4.82 40

THat is downright AWFUL. In all seriousness, most high school running backs are faster than that. That kid had so much time off, he should have ran a 3.0 40 after working out. Pfff. what a joke

I tried to tell you all time away from the game wasn't a good thing and you never what you're going to get when they finally hit the field again. I was shaky about this kid before and now I know, I definitely would not take a chance on an undersized that can run down from behind by defensive tackles. He's flat out slow.

How many players run bad 40 times at the combine - yet become beasts in the NFL. Terrell Suggs, our own Taylor Jacobs dropped out of being a mid-first round pick to an early 2nd pick with a sad showing at the combine. I still would take Clarett over Betts any day!

I agree with Daseal. A players 40 time and this whole combine is the biggest load of shit. Remember Trung Canidate!
The combine results and 40 time does not determine if you are going to be a great football player. Another player who dropped in the draft because of a bad 40 time at the combine is none other than the all time leading rusher in the NFL Emmit Smith. He ran something like a 4.6 and 4.7. Some guys are faster during a game, when the old adrenaline is pumping. Put the fear of getting hit by a huge LB and some guys run faster.

Good job DW! I made that very comparison a while back and that is exactly who Clarett resembles with his running style, I see all the same instinct's as a runner as Emmitt had.

Emmitt Smith has one of the best off pace steps I have ever seen. Probably second only to Walter Payton. he'll slow down just enough to make you hesitate and then off he goes.
