Going to Florida
Hey guys, I am going to Florida (Orlando) in a couple weeks. My wife and I are planning on taking my 18 month old daughter to DisneyWorld and SeaWorld. I am just wondering if anybody on the site has ever taken their kids to either place and might have some advice for me. I found out that the It's a Small World ride is closed until the spring 2005 and that was the one thing I wanted to take my daughter too.
My wife will be 4 and a half months pregnant so walking distances is out of the question. I wanted to pretty much plan out each day for Disney and SeaWorld so we don't get stuck wandering around and wasting time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

I'll say this, the price for all of the Disney parks is completely outrageous. If you want the overall Disney experience, especially for a younger person, make sure you go to the Magic Kingdom. If you're wanting to put up the money, you can get a Park Hopper pass which will allow you into any park for how ever many days you sign up for it. Even though It's A Small World is closed, there's plenty of other fun things to do in the Magic Kingdom. Epcot is kind of boring as far as children are concerned and Animal Kingdom is second rate compared to the Magic Kingdom. I only know all this because I have a few family members who are executives down there, and they say the way they make money is by having people pay for each park separately.

I'm a big fan of the Disney experience (I spent a week of my honeymoon there) and Magic Kingdom is the way to go. 18 months is a little younger than I would take my kids, but she'll enjoy herself. Your kid might like Animal Kingdom also. Epcot is as dull as a hot crayon, and MGM is a little too cerebral for kids.

The sweet thing about Epcot is you get to see what people in 1965 thought the world would be like in 1992 or something like that. Flying cars, woooooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeee....

My father in law is going to be in Orlando for a photography convention so he invited us down for a few days so he could see his grand daughter. I agree that 18 months is a little young but who can pass up a free trip to Florida.
I guess my original question should have been more specific. Since my daughter is only so young, we are going to keep it simple and do just the Magic Kingdom and Sea World, so I was wondering if anybody here ever took there kids and had some specific advice like what rides to avoid of definitely hit. Or anything like that. |

I don't have kids so I don't have any advice on the rides to ride, but I will say that, in general, she will LOVE Sea World. There's all sorts of things for kids to see.

You shold for sure go to MGM for your daugther. They have a Playhouse Disney attraction- it has Bear in the Big Blue House, Stanley, Rolle Pollie Olle, and someone else it last about 25 minutes I took my daughter when she was 2 and she really enjoyed it. MGN also has some other neat things too.

I went when I was 12ish and HATED the disney parks. I however loved Epcot. So ditch your kid and check out Epcot!

it's been 15 years since I went to Magic Kingdom...i vaguely remember anything there...all i remember was space mountain was closed for repairs, and being pissed off about that.
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw...=MKLandingPage go to the website, and check it out...they have vast amounts of information on the park (i linked you to Magic Kingdom, because if you are spending one day there, IMO, that is the park to go to)...if you click attractions, they have rides and such listed by genre, including a section called Fun for Little Ones... be sure to have at least one meal in the featured character dining places...that way, she can interact with the characters. and have a turkey leg for us, will ya! Not sure about Sea World, but it doesn't hurt to check out their website as well and look around.

Ohhhhhhhh those turkey legs... those are the stuff that dreams are made of.
Speaking of Disney... anyone else been down there for the Food & Wine Festival? THAT is awesome.

HAHAHA.. that was my favorite part. Drinking "around the world." I started in Canada and by the time I made it clockwise around to some Samuel Adams, I was gone. Disney is a VERY different place when alcohol is involved. I saw security escorting some people out.
