Why we aren't getting any good QB & still be bad

Hello, if you came to this thread, this thread is my realistic thinking (some say pesimistic, you be the judge) on us getting a good QB next year.

Peyton Manning- Won't happen. Why? Because Peyton is a winner, he wants to go to a team that he knows he can win on. He wants to go to an offense that is a similar one that he ran in Indy. Do you think he would look good in Shanahan's offense doing bootlegs? He's slow, now he's slow with a bad neck. He would look like the walking talking Trees in LOTR's, when he rolls out of the pocket. Miami, some say (like us) was a QB away from being a great playoff team. The difference is that he still can play the colts more often in the AFC, he plays Tom Brady more, doesn't have to play Eli 2 times a year, and has a good OL, WR, and running game, along with a good defense and special teams, which will play better with more motivation when Peyton gets there. Oh and Peyton has a house in Miami already. Even if he doesn't go to Miami, the Jets, 49ers and Cardinals are also likely options he would consider before us.

Andrew Luck- Again, Not Going To Happen. Ok, take off your Redskins fans hats for a second and put on a Colts owner/GM/HC hat. Why in world would you pass up the 'next peyton manning'? Irsay has already said we're taking a QB with our first pick. He said its between Luck and RG3, but he's been linked to Luck since back in September, when they were scouting him at one of his games. Also Luck is considered the safer pick. RG3 has a higher potential ceiling than Luck, but who knows, because then arguments come in that RG3 played in a spread with a first round WR, the same offense which produced Kevin Kolb. Luck on the other hand was in a pro style offense, with bad WR's and good TE's, for 3 years and he put up better and better numbers each year. He's pretty much a known, what your going to get kind of guy. Thats why end takes him. Indy knows their rebuilding, and they know the QB's after Luck and Griffin drop off steeply, so no, they're not trading that pick; If I'm Irsay I'm taking Luck and not even listening to offers.

RG3- So with Luck going to Indy, that leaves RG3 and St. Louis at 2. Jeff Fisher has already said a couple of important things here
1. I want to coach a team who has a good QB in place; he does its Bradford and thats why he took the job, no reason to replace something that isn't the problem when he has multiple areas on his team that need fixing.
2. We are prepared to trade down; He knows St. Louis needs a WR and a OT. This years draft has 3 tackles who are considered to be future 10 year pro bowl type starters in Reiff, Kalil, and Martin. WR wise theres Blackmon, then a slight drop off until you get to Alshon, Floyd, Wright.
No again, take off your redskins hat, and put on your St. Louis Rams GM/HC hats for a second. Whats a better option? Trade down with the Redskins, get their #6 overall pick and their 39th pick (2nd rounder) and a 2nd rounder next year, OR get the browns #4 overall pick and their #19 overall pick (this year) to get either Blackmon/Kalil at 4, and Martin/Alshon/Floyd/Wright at 19? The point is, is that the Browns have better picks for us that is more relevant for the Rams than our lonely 6th pick and an unknown at 39. Rams trade with the Browns, not us come April. You can throw out that "but the Browns are sold on Colt McCoy" talk. They're not, otherwise they wouldn't be hyping up RG3 so much and they think he's one of the best prospects in the draft. And yes, Griffin will play for the browns, he's open to any team, he won't pull an Eli on draft day.

Bradford- See Griffin above (He's Jeffs guy)

Flynn- His chances of coming here are 25%. The Broncos have interest in him. The Dolphins make a lot of since for him; if they get Peyton though our chances go up. If Cleveland makes a run at him, then they Could be bluffing about getting RG3, but I believe they get RG3 still regardless of Flynn or not. Seattle has interest in Flynn, they're in an easier division than we are, and will probably pay more than we will. Even if we do get Matt Flynn, do you really think he's the answer. A guy who threw to Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, James Jones, and Jermichael Finley. He looks like a Matt Cassel to me. Which means he'd be good, but not the elite super bowl caliber guy you look for. I think we're his 3rd or 4th option.

So come draft day, hope for the best, but prepare for the worst, because we can easily, as I've just shown you, could have no good QB come opening day (Orton probably), and will probably be headed to another medicore season, which means probably no Barkley either.

We're probably not getting any of those five guys, although RG3 will be very obtainable if Shanahan wants him (I suspect he doesn't want to put in the work to make him more system-friendly). Shanahan can want the other four all he wants, but it doesn't mean he can get them.

I don't understand how the same person can think Bradford is a lock with the Rams and at the same time think the Browns are a lock to draft RGIII.

bradfords a #1 overall pick he has 3 years to show his talents he'll be in year 3 people around the league believe that he hasn't had the talents or the fair judgement being that the team he was on was awful. You put Peyton Manning or Tom Brady on that team their still not much better. No WR's, no defense, awful OL.

McCoy on the other hand has a great OL, and solid defense. His WR core could be better. His RB situation wasn't as good this year with Hillis being often injured. McCoy wasn't a high draft pick so therefore he isn't given as much time as Bradford.

I don't see anything silly or funny about this. When all this happens you won't be laughing come september-december.

With the NFL being as fluid as it is, there is no such thing as a "lock".

A dink and dunker who completed 53%.

With the WR's he had, any QB would have been a dink and dunker on that team. I'm pretty sure the Rams lead the league in dropped passes too. There is a large majority of the league who views Bradford as a great QB who hasn't had a great team around him.

Cultbrennan59 first, the irony in your name and your pessimism of the QB situation is awesome.

I think we are suffering from just going through a year with the worst QB play in the NFL. It can get better. Rex is horrible, Becks was worse if that is possible to imagine. It will get better. Even if Orton, Henne, or a 2nd round QB pick starting for us next year.

You also gotta understand Rex and Becks supporting cast on the offense was poor to begin with as well. Our personal at WR and Oline will also improve as well.

I'm not criticizing Bradford for going underneath a lot: Peyton Manning won a super bowl doing exactly that after years of watching Harrison and Wayne not ever beat their coverage in the playoffs. What Peyton didn't do was complete 53% of his passes.

At 64%+, Bradford is an intelligent, gritty winner. Below 58%, he's a bust. I suspect he'll be in between those figures next year.

Classic messed up thread title.

The subject of the thread already is being discussed elsewhere.

I don't think draft status is meaningful in regards to the comparison between McCoy and Bradford.
Coaches look at the bottom line, they look at production.
They're only gonna keep a QB because they think he can be the guy.
A coach isn't going to keep a QB only because he's a 1st round draft pick, especially a coach from a new regime.

I think the only real difference between the 2 is your perception.
There are smaller differences that I'm not going to quibble over but suffice it to say that neither QB has played under ideal circumstances.

Career:
Sam Bradford
57.6 5676 24 TD 21 INT 6.0 YPA 74.2 rating
Colt McCoy
58.4 4309 20 TD 20 INT 6.3 YPA 74.5 rating
