Great quote from Steve Smith on Freddie Mitchell

This is hilarious! I totally agree with Smith, who the hell is Freddie Mitchell anyway?? 22 catches, what a joke. He acts like he's TO, except he has the stats of a 4th string WR.

The News
Eagles' wide receiver Freddie Mitchell refers to himself as the People's Champion, but Panthers' wideout Steve Smith is one person who isn't buying the hype. "Freddie Mitchell has 22 catches," Smith said during an interview on James Brown's radio show. "He's not a premier receiver. My son in flag football had 22 catches. That's the level he's on. Freddie Mitchell can't hold my jock. You've got to be kidding me. He's a joke." Smith missed all but one game this season with a broken fibula.

Our View
The funniest thing about Smith's comments is that one of his teammates is related to Mitchell. Panthers' kick returner Rod Smart (a/k/a He Hate Me) is the first cousin of Mitchell. Apparently Smith is still bothered by the fact that Mitchell was selected 49 picks earlier than he was in the 2001 draft.

That is hilarious. All of a sudden Freddie Mitchell is trying to be like TO w/ the media. The hair and the mink coat. He's just looking for attention.

I agree w/ everything Smith said. But then again, Freddie is in the Super Bowl and Steve Smith is at home rehabbing his leg. So Smith might sipping on some "hatorade" right now.

Did you all hear Mitchell after the Vikings game?

"I'd like to thank my hands for being so great"

clown...now we just sit back and wait for Curmudgeon to make some sort of comment about how Mitchell is better than anybody the Redskins have

He has a three year average of 23 catches and only 4 tds in those three years. You think a player with such a lack of numbers would just sit down and shut up. Maybe he will be winner of espn's mike and mike show, just shut up award.

This clown is one of the main culprets in keeping the Eagles out of the Super Bowl the last 3 years. If he and Stinkston were not so bad the Eagles would have already won a Super Bowl. What a joke he is...

I think he's doing it because he knows it may be the only publicity he can get!

The whole Mitchell interview was a joke. I don't think he meant for anything he said to be taken seriously. Come on, who says "I'd like to thank my hands for being so great" and be serious?

The reporters were laughing when he was saying it. He was making fun of his past.

Of course he was joking, at least I hope he was. If he's serious he's got problems.

He's still annoying though.

smootsmack:

NO way Freddie Mitchell is better than anything the Skins have. He hasn't accomplished much of anything either. If his accomplishments were only half as big as his mouth, the Eagles would be looking to establish a dynasty next week and not the Pats.

I do recall that Mitchell was the guy who caught the famous "4th ane 26" pass against the Packers in the playoffs last year. That was a big play. It may have been Mitchell's only big play.

With regard to his thanking his hands for being so good, I suspect that might be something that half the boys in the 7th grade might say... :cool-smil

celts32:

It wasn't Mitchell and "Stinkston" that the PHilly press and the Philly fnas wanted to tar and feather. The other WR who they felt kept them out of the Super Bowl was some guy they nicknamed "Trash". The Eagles got rid of him. Oh yeah, he was signed by the Skins...
