Trully lets analyize this...
Its a long offseason and so I had an idea how about we go through the roster of are high profile players and potiential additions to the team and analyze the impact that they have on our team. Are these players better as skins or trade bait. lets discuss.
The first player I want to discuss is Fred Smoot. He stats are the following: DEFENSIVE STATS Year Team G Total Tckl Ast Sacks Int Yds Avg Lg TD Pass Def 2001 Washington Redskins 14 33 30.0 3 0 5 36 7.2 36 0 7 2002 Washington Redskins 16 61 49.0 12 0 4 12 3.0 12 0 10 2003 Washington Redskins 15 57 50.0 7 0 4 35 8.8 35 0 5 2004 Washington Redskins 15 59 53.0 6 0 3 17 5.7 17 0 10 TOTAL 60 210 182.0 28 0 16 100 6.2 36 0 32 we'll he seems to miss atleast one game a year, he a good tackler after his rookie season he averaged in the 50's although no sacks. his int's have gone down over the years this is not neccarily a bad thing teams may have more respect for him. or then agian he may just be getting caught on. when he get the ball he doesn't score that kinda badd because in today's NFL defenses have to put up points as well. Looking past stats if u've seen a skin game u know he plays his heart out and leaves it all on the field. he plays hurt, and enjoys being part of the defense. he's beginnning to be respected so his trade value may be pretty high. so what do you guys think should he stay, go let it be known. As for my opinion although I love smoot and the way he plays I would not be devistated if we used him in a deal to bring in some good talent.; ie Moss in a package deal with gardner and picks, rather than giving up Lavar. there seems to be alot of corners who want to move this year and I think we could get an equal deal like Samari Rolle or Charles Woodson. I know alot of you may say "Woodson he injury prone" we'll I say in rebuttle to that they same thing about shawn springs last year and did very well as a skin. but anyways post what u think.

I still think if we let Smoot go its gonna hurt us. If you won't give Smoot his money then do you realy think we will give Mr. Woodson and the Poston Bros. his money no. Rolle has never really impressed me for a season. He has his couple of flashes a year, but thats it. I honestly wouldn't mind a Moss deal though if its equal. I think Moss just needs to get out of Minn. I don't know about you all but, L. Coles and R. Moss, w/ C. Coolley at H-Back/TE, and C. Portis at HB, with P. Ramsey at Qb. Super Nice!!!

oooo wait maybe it's because moss dicked the great Greenbay team and beat farve the nfl god in the field owned by the fans... get real!! people have personalities, there not robots, and there are some assholes out there. either way no one can stop moss one-on-one period. If there has been someone tell me who it is. If he was a skin he would free up coles, portis, and cooley. Teams are looking for a player of his caliber in the draft ie, mike williams. but you know he's the proven real deal, taught by cris carter, and virtually unstoppable so think before ya speak dog.

I'm not saying that Randy Moss is a bad player, but what I AM saying is that he wouldn't be worth the price to bring to Washington. Not only would it cost us SO many players/picks/money, we can win just as easily without him.
Bringing Randy Moss in alone would shake up the continuity that Gibbs said he wanted to maintain in the offseason by having to release major players and give up picks, not to mention the attitude he brings, for the good and the bad.

I'm all for Moss when you take the financial stuff out of the question. If we can afford him and don't have to give up franchise players, I'm all for it.

I would cautiously agree, even though it wouldn't be possible to get him with money alone.

Resign,resign,resign... I know that pretty much everyone has written him off and I just have this gut feeling that he'll be back.
I also had a gut feeling we'd be in the NFC Playoff game before.

you cant judge a corner back by his stats.
moss is a coach killer just like jeff george. the only way i would take moss is if his babysitter cris carter came out of retirement. btw, i dont hate moss because of the stupid shit he does. he admits to taking plays off. he walks of the field while the game is still being played. |

Everybody takes plays off. I don't know that admitting it was the right thing, but everyone does.

I really would love to have Smoot back here next year, but if he does leave I dont want us going out and trying to get Rolle, Woodson, or any other high priced CB. I would rather give Smoot the money that they will want and keep him. I am pretty sure that Rolle and Woodson will want equal to or more than what we are offering Smoot, so why let Smoot go and sign one of them for the same price or higher? Makes no sense. If anything we should let Williams try to develop some of the younger CB's on the team.

We DON'T Need Randy Moss
Someone made a comment about all wideouts being cocky trash talkers, sighting examples like T.O., Chad Johnson, Keyshawn, and Joe Horn. You probably forgot to mention guys like Marvin Harrison and Lavarenues Coles (and remember Art Monk?) who are team players and great receivers. As far as the Redskins are concerned, Moss is an egocentric, selfish player. His talent doesn't make up for his horrible attitude. We can easily find a talented receiver in the draft or in a trade. FORGET ABOUT MOSS!

Gary Clark talked trash, but his attitude wasn't trash.....that is the difference...Clark came to play football and he challenged any CB to cover him man on man...most of the time Clark won those battles....however, he was a team player....I don't believe it was all about him or the money (although some might disagree when he left for the Cards..)....I think that is the difference...Clark seemed to be a team player, Moss plays for himself ON the team...
While I respect guys like Harrison or Monk (not sure about Horne wasn't he the one with the Cell phone incident last year??)..having an out spoken trash talking WR isn't always a bad thing as long as they respect their team, themselves, and they back up the smack! |
