Here it is

There is a strong possibility Redskins MLB Mike Barrow's career could be over. As Washington's director of sports medicine Bubba Tyer recently said, Barrow's age, the severity of his knee injury and being out all season are indicators that his playing days could be in jeopardy.

All the more reason to re-sign Pierce long-term!!!
It's a shame though, because he had been relatively injury-free his entire career, but it appears that this combination of the type of injury and his age are just not in his favor. Also, even with Pierce as the starter, you couldn't get much better for a back-up MLB....which is what I think a lot of us were looking forward to next season.

Looks like we should have kept Jeremiah Trotter, huh?

Beemn: Probably not, everyone would still be complaining he sucks even though we didn't use him correctly his entire career in DC.

What would this do to the cap? Not sure how retirement works!

Pierce is a much better fit for this defense than Trotter will ever be, Pierce also outperformed him all season but Trotter made the Pro Bowl on his name alone.

Sucks for Barrow but at least Pierce developed nicely.

Matty - Trotter spends his time in the opponents backfield, it's what he's good at. Does he deserve the Pro Bowl? No. Did he have a fairly good season once he started, yes.

True it is what he's good at, but can he cover like Pierce? Who is the better all around LB right now? Who would you rather have?

I'd rather have Pierce of course, but I really think we missed the boat when Trotter WAS here as to how to use him. Pierce is great in coverage and he's a bit small, but besides that the prototypical MLB. Knows his assignments, tells others their assignments. I like him running the defense.

Trotter is too limited in his abilities. He's great at crashing the line and stuffing the run, but he's a liability when he's asked to drop back in coverage. We definitely didn't use him the way Philly does, but I really don't regret the fact he's gone. It was a mistake to bring him here in the first place.

We should have stuck with Mitchell at the time and used Trotter's money elsewhere. We also should have stayed away from Armstead and re-signed Barber to a long-term deal. Then again there are a lot of things we should and shouldn't have done, the list could go on and on.

Show's you how useful the NFC East recycling bin is worth. Someone else's garbage is still garbage.

Matty, you hit the nail right on the head. And to stop all these friggin' mistakes, we should definitely stick with Pierce and stop looking for all these big name free agents. we have what we need right here at home!!! Same with our cornerbacks. I love Smoot and hope he returns, but if doesn't, we've got great young talent waiting to play like they did in Smoot's absense. Give them a chance instead of bringing in some high priced over the hill vet. And don't give Fred the bucks of an overrated Champ!!!

Forget Trotter. He is not that good. Philly is all scheme. Whenever those guys leave Philly they stink whereever they end up. Both corners they let go last year, Trotter, The DE who's name I can't think of right now. I can't think of one defensive free agent that left there and continued great play on the new team. Trotter is an average LB that is good at what Philly asks him to do.

You're thinking of Hugh Douglass.

Trotter has his upside and his downside. Just like every other player in the league. I'm not saying it was a great move to sign him, or we're not better off now with Pierce, I'm just saying when he was here, we didn't use him correctly.
