Reed Doughty Q&A round 2

Redskins safety Reed Doughty has agreed to take some questions from us again, go ahead and post 'em here.

Here is last year's chat with him.

Re: Reed Doughty Q&A round 2

Who's the best Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator you've played for in your career? (college included)

What do you really think of Albert Haynesworth?<---just kidding.......What does your off-season work out plan consist of?

What was going on in your thought process on that 4th down play last year with Andre Johnson's touchdown to tie the game? (want to see a players perspective on a particular play)

Which NFL player is the toughest to defend against?

What is the hardest hit you've given and received in a game?

Which scheme do you prefer to be in? 4-3 or 3-4?

Charcoal or gas?

Nice! Well done Matty. I'll have to think of some questions

Here's one to start:

What was the public's biggest misunderstanding about the lockout?

Here's another

What's your opinion of Roger Goodell?

Welcome back Reed.

1. Being a free agent, did you get a look from other teams or workout for any? If so, who were they?

2. You gotta new starting Saftey playing along side you in OJ Atogwe. What is he bringing to the secondary that may have been lacking before? What do you like about his game? When you get a new secondary guy around coming on the team with vets like yourself, Laron, Hall...whats the biggest adjustment?

Re: Reed Doughty Q&A round 2

First off, how refreshing is it to see this team go out in the offseason and sign younger, hungrier players that want to prove themselves instead of big name guys looking for a payday?

Secondly, what do you think about Mike Shanahan. Is it nice knowing you have a coach that works hard around the clock and puts you in the best position to win?

Thirdly, how excited are you to be back with the Redskins? We are really lucky to have a guy like you on the depth chart, someone willing to do whatever it takes to win and is great to have from a depth perspective.

And finally, I just want to thank you to your service for the Skins. You are known as one of the hardest working guys on the team and the fact that you can play both safety spots as well as special teams is a big plus. Thanks for taking our questions.

Re: Reed Doughty Q&A round 2

Awesome. Here are my questions:

Now that you've had a year of the 3-4 defense under your belt, do you have a preference between the 4-3 or 3-4 defense? Does the change in defense matter much for defensive backs?

What is the toughest WR/TE you've had to defend?

What did you do to stay in shape during the offseason and the lockout? Did you do anything fun, that you wouldn't have been able to do otherwise?

Besides London Fletcher, who do you think are the other players that other players look up to? Is there a particular Redskin or NFL players that you look up to?

What are your thoughts about the international NFL games? Would you mind if the Redskins play a game in London or Mexico?

Thank you for taking our questions, Mr. Doughty. I look forward to a positive year for you!

What do you think of the application of the Personal Conduct policy? Should Mr. Goodell continue to be the sole judge or should there be a more neutral outside arbitrator?

Re: Reed Doughty Q&A round 2

Greetings and THANK YOU for taking our Q's. It's awesome when fans get...real insider info!
It seems to me that more than any off-season in a long time have the Skins done a great job improving the roster across the board. In every case have they improved the talent level by position and gotten younger, hungrier players. With that in mind why is the general opinion in the media so poor of this team?
While I do not expect for them to contend for the SB....this year, I cannot understand how they would not be significantly improved? Any thoughts?
Thank you

Hello Mr Doughty and a big thanks for taking our questions!! Can you explain the role of the safeties in Haslett's (3-4) system? I'm a novice at defensive schemes but really enjoy learning!!

Thanks again!

He touched on that last year:

Quote:
WP: How is the transition coming with the switch to the 3-4?

RD: The transition for the Safeties is not that drastic. We are asked to play a lot more coverages and schemes but that has more to do with Coach Haslett's mentality than it does switching to 3-4. The 3-4 affects the DE/LB guys and the other Defensive line up front.
