Eagles land Cullen Jenkins
Another day, another big free agent signing for the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense.
The Eagles have announced that former Packers defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins has reached an agreement with the team. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that it’s a five year, $25 million deal. Jenkins played 11 games for the Packers last season, starting eight and recording seven sacks. The 30-year-old had played his entire seven-year career in Green Bay. The signing comes less than 24 hours after the Eagles made a huge splash in free agency by signing cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. Maybe the Eagles really will be a Dream Team. Or maybe they’ll discover that you can’t just spend your way to the Super Bowl. UPDATE: Michael Lombardi of NFL Network reports that Jenkins’ contract could essentially turn into a one-year, $4 million deal if the Eagles decide to let him go after the 2011 season. |

The Redskins have not forgotten the Monday night embarrassing beating they took from the Eagles last year and will be after Vick's ass. I can't wait for revenge on those bastards.

Re: Eagles land Cullen Jenkins
I'm kinda glad he didn't come here anyways. When we negotiated with him it was clearly all about the money for him. And since he's already 30 I wouldn't have wanted to give him a big money deal anyways, I'dve given him like a 2 year deal max. He's not a long term building block, which is what we need, and which is why I like the Stephen Bowen signing. Bowen's coming into his prime right now, and from all indications is a young up and comer.

He hasn't changed, he has a general manager that knows how to build a franchise.

Re: Eagles land Cullen Jenkins
Holy crap -- someone on this thread said it right, paper champs; fully expect them to represent the NFC in the super bowl.
...BUT, if Vick goes down (and he definitely will) then can VY lead them like Kolb might have, I don't think so.

They have Vince Young, he's a winner. Actually after hearing about Becks lame duck deep balls I'm starting to wish that we had Vince Young or Matt Leinart for that matter.

After a little more than a decade of Danny Boy's directions, who but Redskins' fans would know more about "paper champs"? Someone said that he was glad Jenkins signed elsewhere because when he was talking with the Skins it was "only about the money". Given the Skins' reputation around the league and their on field sucesses over the last 10 years, everyone who negotiates with the Skins is doing it "only about the money". It is going to take a while to change that image - - and it is going to take a string of winning seasons using a different philosophy to make the change. Coach Shanahan and GM Allen, you are on the clock...

Re: Eagles land Cullen Jenkins
There won't be many Redskins who were there for that game. But that's a good thing.

Nobody even heard of this guy until he became a free agent of the lastest "super bowl winner". BFD.....the Eagles can have him........

Re: Eagles land Cullen Jenkins
Lets not be sour grapes here...the guy is good and makes most teams better....if he came to the skins, I'd been pumped up...now he is going to the Eagles...not cool.
We had a shot to add a talent to our team and aparently keep him off our competitors....it looks like a loss for us and a gain for the eagles to me...at least we did the same to Dallas. Regarding Vince Young...nice backup to Vick....since he is another mobile QB..Eagles seem to love those guys...all the way back to Randall Cunningham...if you think about it....it is historically the only formula that makes them win. Another thing...paper champs under Reid have a much greater chance for success that we did...especially with a consistently winning team. This signing pisses me off frankly...both of the Eagles signings...not to mention them getting all those draft picks the last 2 years for QBs. If they do it a third time with Vince Young, I will vomit

Re: Eagles land Cullen Jenkins
Two 30 year old vets to long term deals. That cap is going to be hell in a few years. They still have to get MV and DJ signed to long term contracts as well. They have about a 2-3 year window in which to win the SB.
