Best/Worst Young Cores
What teams the best and worst offensive, defensive, and overall young cores. Guys under 30 (the younger the better) that should be solid starters in the league for years to come is my definition of a young core player.
Worst: Defensive: Broncos. I read an article recently that said that robert ayers was by far their best front 7 player (and they have zero young secondary starters). Ayers had 1.5 sacks as a pass rusher. Pathetic Offensive: Unfortunately it seems to be the Redskins. Trent Williams/Chris Cooley are the only solid starters for years to come IMO (I'm not convinced Brown will be here or healthy a few years down the road, and I'm not a believer in anyone else). The seahawks could also be said here, they have Okung and Carlson as their only true young core guys IMO, but Williams and the possibility of tate edge them out as second worst. Overall: Panthers. I would say broncos, but I think Tebow might pan out. I have zero faith in clausen. Best Packers Packers Packers Young and deep on all aspects of the team. The amount of young guys that stepped up to fill in for injured players this year is ridiculous. Ted Thompson deserves all the praise he has been getting. |

I wonder how he will do in the 4-3 defense?

About the comment about Ayers being the best front 7 player for Denver, I'd say that's without question Elvis Dumervil, he just missed last season with that torn pec muscle.

Re: Best/Worst Young Cores
Maybe they had too much confetti in their eyes from winning the SUPER BOWL! Yeah, they suck.
On to the OP, sadly you are right, we are bereft of young talented players on the offensive side of the ball. If Torrian could make it thru 16 games I would say he's serviceable to good and I'm willing to go with Armstrong as a good 'young' (although he's like 28) player, we are hurting badly on that side of the ball.

Re: Best/Worst Young Cores
I know I was talking about last year. I was trying to emphasize the horrible lack of depth on this team. Even with dumervil, they only have 3 young players on that roster that have a shadows chance of starting 3 years down the road. Dumervil, ayers, and (sort of young) williams. I really do not buy into ayers being an impact player, I do not think that williams will be that effective in 3 years, and I just can't take dumervil seriously as anything other than a pass-rush situation player. I'm not writing any of these guys off, I just think that when a team only has three guys that have potential to start 3 years in the future, they better be very good core players. I just don't see the present guys on the roster carrying the team in the future. Young talent is most needed on this defense more than any other.
