South Carolina? Hell no. If he's going back to college at least go to a strong program. He coulda gone to Texas, North Carolina, etc. Someone with more recruiting power.

I agree. But lets remember that he went to Duke and turned that program around. If he did it at Duke I'm pretty sure he'll do fine in SC.

Daseal:
I'd love to see Spurrier at Texas just because I don't think that Big 12 coaches have seen anything like his Fun 'n Gun - other than Stoops at Oklahoma of course. The other place I'd like to see Spurrier go is Penn State for similar reasons. But I don't think the golfing season is long enough in State College to get him there. It's kind of hard to play golf when the fairway is covered in 10 inches of snow! But what makes you think UNC is a strong program or one with recuriting power. UNC's football tradition is mediocrity - not much different than South Carolina's.

he just wants to go to a place that doesn't carry so much scruteny if he loses. His ego was destroyed in washington and he's trying to build it back up.

Sports: He could build UNC into a real program. It has a lot to offer, just look at the basketball team. They have the money to spend on sports and have the tools available to lure in young athletes.

South Carolina is a competitive team in a strong conference, who says Spurrier can't help take them to the next level? For a diehard Spurrier fan, you're not showing your man much love Daseal

Exactly Smoot, USC is a big program in a top conference. Their stadiums is always packed even when they were only winning 2 games. Besides, there are lots of golf courses in SC for OBC to enjoy. This is a good move for OBC.

Ok, here's one thing I'm a bit confused about. Spurrier takes over if Holtz steps down. But what if he doesn't? Does Spurrier wait until 2006 then?

I wonder if somewhere Spurrier is smiling knowing that his Redskin offense last year was better than this one under Gibbs -- without Clinton Portis? |

It might ease the agony a bit, but I think even he knows that Gibbs and co sticking with this team for the long haul will pay off big.
