Steelers Actively Shopping Big Ben for a Top 10 Pick

Per Adam Schefter via PFT. I don't beleive in Twitter, so here's the PFT link.

Report: Steelers begin actively shopping Ben | ProFootballTalk.com

Quote:
A day after Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Steelers are receiving trade feelers from other teams, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Steelers are contacting teams in the top ten of the draft regarding a possible trade.

Per Schefter, at least one team is considering the possibility of sending the top-ten selection to the Steelers for Roethlisberger.
Its got to be the Bills or the Raiders. Either way, i have to say that I relish the thought of Rothlisberger languishing in Oakland or Buffalo for the rest of his "prime." If he goes to either city, he'll be so damaged by the time his contract expires that his career will be effectively over.

"Actively shopping" and "receiving calls" are not exactly the same thing.

It would set their team way back to trade him regardless of their compensation, even if a #1 pick and Bradford...he'll take years to catch up to Ben even if he does succeed.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him go somewhere though, because Rooney seems very angry about his QB, but I don't think the Steelers initiated the talks.

If he goes to Oakland or Buffalo, that's one less potential landing place for Campbell

Fine with me. We need a good backup for McNabb. Chances are he won't play all 16 games.

Top ten pick? NFW. Not with his baggage now.

id trade mcnabb straight up for him. (jk but serious) the steelers do not play around. mcnabb is a proven vet with a history of professinalism.

This could get crazy tomorrow! I think Holmgren's got to consider this too. And Seattle too. Then there's always some wild card, like us!

I think Pitt. might be over-reacting if they trade him, unless his past w/the team has also been rocky. If he's been a good teamate & employee I think it would be too much to actively seek to trade him. Give him a chance to redeem himself first. If they get a great offer, got to listen though.

Great point. If I'm Buffalo or Oakland, I offer a high 2nd rounder at best. Bringing in Roethlisberger would be PR nightmare at first.

Oakland seems like a somewhat obvious choice, Buffalo also a possibility.. but what if Clausen is gone before Cleveland and that's who they wanted? You think Holmgren bites on it?

But Pitt. would have a job opening. JC would fit in well there. They won't offer much though, 4th at best would be my guess.
