Why not Fred Davis for Gaither?
I don't think anyone has brought this idea up, if it has, feel free to delete this thread.
Since we got Cooley back and Davis seems like he could have a promising career, why don't we try to trade one of our TEs to the Ravens for Gaither. A straight up trade probably won't work, so I'm sure the teams can throw in some picks to even it out. For the Ravens: Apparently, Heap is losing his edge (according to Ravens fans that I know) and he has also had injury problems in the past. I would think that Davis or Cooley could really upgrade their passing game, especially with all the other WRs they now have. It seems like they want to move Gaither to another team anyway, since they are putting Oher at LT and Davis probably has close to the value of a second round pick. For the Redskins: The benefits are obvious. Gaither seems to be a solid LT in the league and we have an extra TE. Unless they plan on using a lot of two TE packages (which I assumed was something that Zorn wanted to use) it would make sense to package one of our tight ends to shore up our line. I wouldn't like to lose either of the TEs, but it seems like we might have one of the worst offensive lines in the league and not many draft picks or free agents to help it out. If we actually did a trade like this, we could still get a tackle in the first round to put him at RT or draft the best player available.

Davis is cheaper and more physically talented. If I were Baltimore, I would rather have him. I would do the deal for either guy, assuming Gaither isn't planning on quitting football soon. |

How can you be so certain that you would rather have Okung. As good as he was until he hits the field he is a ?. Acording to the site that 30 gut posted, Gaither was the #6 tackle in the league last year. I don't care how good Okung is, there is almost zero chance that a rookie could be that succesful. I would rather have both of them! |

When a young player has a breakout year in limited playing time you don't trade them.
You get the ball to them. |

If Oher is taking over and Gaither is so good, why do we want him and why does Baltoimore want to get rid of him?

Re: Why not Fred Davis for Gaither?
Are you honestly thinking the Ravens would give up a stud lineman for a TE. Or do you mean our 1st round pick too? what am i missing here?

Re: Why not Fred Davis for Gaither?
We only have three TE's on the roster, why would we trade Fred Davis one of the more promising young players we have? There will be other ways to acquire a tackle.

Re: Why not Fred Davis for Gaither?
I would rather trade cooley. Not sure I want Gaither anymore though with the stuff floating around about his work ethic.
