New Orleans & the Local Media

I like the New Orleans Saints. I like the feel good story of a city in ruins who almost lost its team and came back a few years later to win it all. I loved that re-grand opening game at the Super Dome on Monday Night when NO crushed the Falcons. I like Drew Brees, Pierre Thomas and Sean Payton. I love Mardi Gras.

But I really hate the condescending attitude the Front Office is exhibiting right now. There are nearly 1200 stadium seats completely occupied by season ticket holders that are being replaced to make room for additional box seats. Im fine with that. Business is business you cant make everyone happy, including, unfortunately, your most dedicated fans.

But the team is blowing up on local media that reports the story. This is bad PR for them and they just want it to go away. Obviously this is the type of special interest story local news outlets use to add charm to otherwise depressing local coverage (see Fox News Sell Our Team DannyBoy). For the Saints to send nasty emails and threaten and even boycott local media because they are reporting the fact that 1200 loyal Saints fans are being dismissed by the team is ridiculous in my mind.

Re: New Orleans & the Local Media

Why does it seem like so many PR and Counsel guys for teams are giant douchebags? That guy's e-mails looked like a firstdown post almost.. and he's in PR?

If you guys want something Redskins related

Cheap Seats Daily: David Donovan, Snyder’s Latest Newspaper Hater, Was a Paperboy? - City Desk - Washington City Paper

Quote:
But, alas, Donovan was a good law student. And during his early days as a practicing attorney, we learn from the story, Donovan had the epiphany that caused to him to give up journalism, and, from the sound of things lately, lose all respect for those who practice it.

"As a reporter, when you call people, they can hang up," Donovan told the Carroll Daily Times Herald. "When you're a lawyer and someone doesn't talk, you can send a subpoena."

What a line! Kinda removes the mystery about who at Redskins Park was behind suing the grandmother.

Oh how things have changed. The Saints FO would never have done such a thing when fans were wearing bags over their heads at games.

Didn't they try and to stop the fans fo using "WHO DAT" once that in the Super Bowl. By that I mean fans couldn't print and sell shirts with the slogan, even though that had no legal rights to it themselves.

Thats what happens when your head swells up.

It was the LEAGUE, not the Saints themselves. I think they would know better than to try that. But season tickets did go up about 200 a game. I feel bad for the fans who were screwed out of their seats.
