Marty ball

The Super Chargers are 5-3 and Brees is playing lights out (5 TD's yesterday, huh?!), damn I guess it does pay to committ to a coach for a few years huh.

I know there's still 8 games to go, but you've gotta tip your hat to Marty, he's doing a nice job in SD.

I'm happy for Marty. Always liked him from Cleveland to KC to DC to SD.

Speaking of Brees though, he will be a free agent this offseason. I'm just sayin'.....

I liked Marty, I liked what he was doing here too ( besides the whole Darell Green stuff ). We never should have gotten rid of him, although I'm still happy with who we have now, thas for sure.

Believe it or not Marty was the answer as head coach. You saw how that team turned that year around(8-8). This team needs a hard ass. Has this team ever had a hard ass for a coach? Your seeing in the nfl what a "hard ass" coach can do. TC in NY, Andy Reid in Philly, Tuna in Dallas. Then theres the softies--Norv in oaktown, Dungee in Indy, and whoever is coaching the Bills these days. Now dont get me wrong, I ride for Gibbs--but his post game pc's are killing me. Stop sugar coating everything and give these people the REAL!!! Brunnell--bench, O-line needs a fire lit under their ass as big as 911( no disrespect)!!! And please, please, please hire a GM. (desmond howard is enough reason)
Go skinz!!!

I enjoyed that season, at least the second half...To go 0-5 to 5-5 was awesome. I never felt so good about our team finishing 8-8 before. As I said in another post I bet Junior is kicking himself now....lol

I guess some people just don't understand Gibbs.

The guy never has and never will be a tough guy in the media. He's not going to call out his players in the press, he just doesn't operate like that. Behind closed doors is an entirely different story though.

Can we get over Desmond Howard already? I mean c'mon, it's not like he was going to sit on the draft board all day long had we not taken him. He was a legit top 10 pick at that time. He would have been someone else's mistake just the same.

Martyball does pretty good during the regular season but by the time his teams get to the playoffs they are shot. I guess in the case of the skins though, getting to the playoffs would be better than what has been happening.

I certainly wouldn't complain about getting to the playoffs. Everyone has a shot once you do, you can't win it all if you're sitting home in January that's for sure.

The lesson learned is that it takes a while to create a culture of success. These things don't happen overnight, despite what most Redskins fans including Dan Snyder think.

Winning is the outcome from putting forth a consistent commitment to working hard and playing the game the right way, not something that is achieved by signing a load of high-priced free agents.

I agree on the Desmond Howard thing. Exactly how long was Gibbs his coach anyway? One year, then he retired. Who knows what would have happened with Howard (or the rest of the team) had Gibbs stuck around...

Synder dropped the ball letting Marty go. And had to pay him afterwards. Marty seems to have a lot more gas in his football-coach tank too. All this money being spent on coaches who don't coach the whole term of the contract. It's ridiculous. Let alone 'Dead Money' Deion Sanders. Putting things in perspective, the 8 million dollar signing bonus guaranteed to Brunell warrants that he'll be around for at least 1 more year. How did this fool throw an interception following the illegal motion call which nullified the Portis TD? As for being in a new system, Brunell is no quick learner. What progress has Ramsey made you might ask? Giving Gibbs credit, not much more.
