Leonard Little? Why
Apparently out of no where we are interested in this guy.. He's got to be in his mid 30's, I know he was pretty good years ago but come on.

Re: Leonard Little? Why
No way. Ugh. He should be on a prison team somewhere.
Thankfully it is a PFT.com story, so it won't happen.

Re: Leonard Little? Why
As a situational pass rusher he might have something left. If the price is right...

Re: Leonard Little? Why
Why? like the article says, little knows hasletts D.
when we have coord or HC changes, i have no problem with the new coach or coord bringing in 1 or 2 older vet guys who know his system to help teach and make the transition smoother. obviously little would be replacing daniels or wynn, whom i really value as locker room vets and leaders. but id be willing to part with wynn in exchange for little and his knowledge of haslett's schemes. either way, im guessin little would come on the cheap and just replace wynn or daniels contract.

Re: Leonard Little? Why
We have plenty of needs along with OL. It's not an either/or situation.

Re: Leonard Little? Why
EVERYONE had the Shanahan story going for a long time. Maybe we should also pick up Dante Stallworth and they can talk about all the things they have in common. i kid i kid. If the price wasnt too high. But we def need 3-4 ends. Carter isnt a 3-4 DE so we move Haynesworth to his spot, then we are gonna need a NT, possibly draft since 49ers franchised theirs. and then the other DE would either keep daniels or use little. Only benefit to little is he knows the system. But dont know if thats enough to warrant him more money

Re: Leonard Little? Why
Considering how thin we're going to be at the DE position he could be of some value as a specialist. There may be no Wynn, Daniels (maybe) Andre Carter perhaps moving to OLB, Jeremy Jarmon coming back from injury and all of a suden the position does not look quite as strong anymore. That does not mean however that Little is the answer, but he could provide depth.

I don't know if Leonard Little is the greatest option in the world, but in a year where we're making major transitions in terms of scheme, we should be making every possible move to upgrade the roster. The smart thing is to turn over 50% of the roster. There's nothing stopping us from doing so, might as well get the guys you want while you can. After all, continuity is not an issue this year, we already know we won't have any of it. Might as well set ourselves up now and try to keep the new core together for the future.

Re: Leonard Little? Why
Or maybe he ends up our new starting DE for our regular 4-3 D and keep Orakpo at LB. Why do people here keep saying we will go to a 3-4?.
We herd" the if's and maybe and should" but we have yet to hear that Jim saying we would go to a 3-4. He said we could be successful in both schemes which means it wouldn't matter what he picks. He hasn't used an all 3-4 D since his days with the Steelers Why do people keep saying a 3-4. He probably feels Little could be a good situational DE in a 4-3 D or a starter to replace Daniels, who did nothing. Lets stop assuming that we will go all 3-4. We don't have a real DE other than Carter and Orakpo but maybe we feel Orakpo 11 sacks at LB shows how good he can be and better than any LB coming in free agency to replace him . Basically what I'm trying to say is maybe we are sticking at 4-3 for right now and we don't have a good DE other than Carter. Maybe haslett feels Orakpo is really good at LB and no other LB in free agency will be as good as Orakpo right now . Joey Porter is an A-hoe and he won't want a rematch with Levi Jones. Dansby will cost way to much . Every other LB will cause a round pick. Only good LB that would make sense that could be cheap is Adailous Thomas. So maybe this is why we want Little so alot doesn't change but we could let Leo Little and Jermon Jarmon battle it out at the DE postion. Why would we give up a 3rd for Jarmon if we won't use him at all if we go 3-4?. |

Re: Leonard Little? Why
There has been no official word on changing to the 3-4, but it's safe to assume based on Haslett's past that at the very least we'll see some 3-4 looks from the D this year.

Re: Leonard Little? Why
Except LL is an unrestricted free agent so we won't have to give up picks to get him. That's a big difference.

Re: Leonard Little? Why
The only thing Jason Taylor ever killed was our salary cap. We've always stayed away from the extreme problem individuals and I see no reason that should change. He's not a great talent that we can't find elsewhere for the same price, so why bring in a legitimate murderer? Lets not become Dallas.
