Positives for this Week:

We came back (regardless of the crappy ref's call) on the Green Bay Packers and kept their offense in check. Our defense continues to play outstanding...even when our starters keep dropping like flies! Taylor Jacobs impressed me today, Rod Gardner impressed me today, and so did L. Coles. I honestly still believe we are soooo close on offense that it isn't funny...yet most of us feel a little tweak at QB would do us some good.

You gotta admit, no matter what direction this season is taking, Joe Gibbs is doing exactly what he said he was going to do. He said he was going to find out who wants to be Redskins...long term Redskins. Let me tell ya, I dare to say its even half of those guys who are roaming up and down the sidelines injured.

I was impressed by the receiver corps considering how horrible some of those passes were today. The defense as always came through with an A+. Picking of Favre 3 times in a game is quite an accomplishment. Shawn Springs really showed he was worth the $$$ today. Smoot as always giving 110%. I've really been impressed with how much heart the guy plays with since Champ was traded. I gotta wonder about guys like Arrington and Morton though and whether they will be around next year, especially when you got guys like Fred Smoot going out there playing hurt because they want to win that bad and want to contribute to the team effort.

I dont even want to look at the offensive side of the ball for a positve. Both of our TDs were the results of defensive turnovers, and the one time we actually drove down the feild a little bit, the refs screwed us over. So whatever offense

Defensivley.... you just gotta give it up to these guys. We have a bunch of no name guys running around out there, just playing like maniacs. Our corners are some of the gutsiest and likeable guys that have ever put on Redskin uniforms. If we dont resign Smoot, I might have to quit being a Redskin fan. The guy is my favorite Redskin since i've been a fan, and I am buying his jersey the day we resign him. Springs is coming up big for us, those two picks were money and pretty much the only reason we were still in the game. Our run defense is awsome, how many yards did Green have today? It couldnt have been more than 50. We still need a better pass rush, but even though we got down early, the defense stepped it up bigtime. This D can be on the feild with any offense in the league. We finally put up a good game, against a good team, so hats off to our defense. If we had even a average offense to help these guys, we'd be 5-2.

I'm in total agreement with you Gman. Greg Williams really has a lot of these guys playing so far above what the rest of league would expect of them it's incredible. Many players have said in interviews that they love playing under Greg too, because they like his agressive style of defense and they love to have the chance to make plays. I think Smoot is just one of the main examples.

yeah def all props to the D who once again have been the only reason we've been close in games. clearly g. williams has been the far better coaching acquisition to date for wash. hopefully the O will come together soon. seems like this season is all but lost however.

I agree..this was a much improved TEAM...yes, the D set up both TD's but the offense actually got into the endzone. Before the Turnovers we got barely resulted in a score. I think the Offense improved. Everyone is looking as if the offense needs to Throw for 300+ yards and run for a 100+ to be an improvment. I disagree. The Offense has IMPROVED but some people are so blind and want to hate Brunell so much they can't see his improvement. I admit he made some mistakes and overthrew his receivers a few times. But he also made some excellant throws when he needed to. I guess hitting the TE for a 23 yard gain when they needed 21 for a first down was nothing. I guess the TE just magically got the ball in his hands and Brunell had nothing to do with it. Granted he did fight for the extra 7 yards to get the First down but Brunell gave him the chance. I just wish everyone would stop saying Brunell is so "Awful" when he has improved. No he isn't where he needs to be..but neither is the rest of the offense and to blame it on Brunnell us just unfair.

yeah i guess u are sorta right... but even a few of his completions were only cos of the receivers making great catches (gardner, coles, jacobs)... we need someone to thread the needle and make our passing O feared so CP can get some even better touches. not this crap where we can only have a 30 yd. drive. the only reason the O has looked decent is cos of the D setting it up. i keep saying it but winless w/o the play of our D..

I think blaming the lack of execution on Brunell is more than justified. On several occasions Brunell missed wide open receivers (and I'm not talking about the overthrow to Cooley in the end zone, he was clearly pressured into throwing that away). The throw to Robert Royal was an easy toss under coverage that any QB on the team could have made. The real props on that play went to Royal for diving for the extra yds for a 1st. Bottom line is Brunell is being paid big bucks to perform like a top line QB and he's not cutting it. Do ya think Brunell will walk into "The Daniel's" office tomorrow and say, "Gee Danny, I really haven't been playing up to yours or the fans expectations so far this year so I'm going to give back some of my salary." No, he'll be walking to first federal or wherever he banks and cashing that fat pay check. If you ask me, that is what is unfair.

I have been with Brunell from the jump. But, that overthrown TD really really hurt us. I felt the second INT by Springs was going to be turnaround for our season reminiscent of Lavar's INT against the Panthers.

Can we pay him more money to leave!!!!!!!!?????????? please!

That 4th and 21 was all Royal. Brunell threw it like 7 yards on 4th and 21, and Royal made a GREAT effort at the end to get the first. I dont care if people call me blinded and biased, but I've watched this guy f*ck over too many games for me to be quiet. He is a large part of the problem.
