Curt Schilling is an a$$! (Political)

Here it is the greatest day for the Red Sox fans and he gets on GMA and tells everyone to vote for Bush. Sports fans are made up of people from all different parties and beliefs and he says something that divides his own fanbase, when all the talk should be on their accomplishments.

And if he got on and said to vote for John Kerry. How would you feel?

The same. I wouldn't want Portis the day after a Superbowl title telling me to vote for someone whether I liked him or not.

He was just implementing the rights extended to him through the 1st Amendment, right?

Maybe he feels that the election is more important than his own accomplishments. Hmm, putting country before self, what a novel idea.

Your statements here kinda remind me of an interview of the creators of South Park and Team America I saw on Jimmy Kimmel. They said they caught a lot of heat for the movie because people expected it to be a Bush bashing movie, but it ended up making fun of everybody. They said the Dems loved the first 5 minutes of it when no libs were made fun of, but then when it started happening they hated it.

I think there is a double standard sometimes. No one blinks an eye if a musician or actor mentions politics during an interview, but it's bad mojo for an athlete.

I have a question, redrock, what do you think of Eminem's Mosh video?

I don't understand why people get their panties all in a bunch when a celeb speaks their mind about politics. Just because they're an athlete, musician, actor or whatever they're not allowed to have a view and to express it? They should only talk about sports, music or movies all the time?

I'm all for Curt speaking his mind. However, his timing sucked-thats all, but he has every right to say what he wants under his 1st ammendment rights. A Sox fan tuning in to see their star pitcher who just won the WS, tuned in to see him talk about the WS and enjoying a big moment for the Sox, not being told who to vote for. I have no problem with him hopping on Bush's tour bus later and doing whatever he can to help his guy.

If Curt is such a big man, then he should go excercise his rights in front of everyone at the parade Saturday in front of 2 million plus Sox fans (which I think would be bad timing BTW). I double dare him to tell them to vote for Bush! Oh yeah Curt is putting the country before himself! He's more worried about his tax cut for the millions he makes.

As for Eminem, that's his typical self. Great video. I'm sure Powell's son will be finding some way to censor it soon.

Give me a break. Those three paragraphs jump back in forth between varying ideology just to suit your own agenda. It's quite comical.

Before jumping to conclusions on Curt Schillings convictions, maybe you should do a little research on the kind of person he is. Start with his letter to America, written 4 days after the terrorist attacks on the WTC.

Looks like Curt has apologized for his "unsolicited" political opinion at the wrong time and place. That was my only problem all along.

I respect atheletes rights to speak their minds. I don't necessarily like it, but what can I do? Even if he endorsed Kerry, I don't think a sports arena is the venue for that. Matty, for the most part I hate it when bands go on and state their political views. Unless it's a political act such as RATM, Sage Francis, Mr. Lif, etc. You expect it from them.

What's this Mosh video I've heard about? I don't watch MTV really anymore since I never see anything about both political view points, just the liberal opinions of anything in the news. And since its a video by Eminem I probably would only wanna watch it once cuz I think he's one of the most overrated "musicians" out right now along with the fact that almost every song he writes offends a variety of different people and groups.

I think this is one of the first times I agree with Daseal
I'm tired of celebrities, athletes, and musicians practically preaching to us about their political beliefs and of all the things they see as injustices in the world when probably 98% of them don't do jack except ride around in their new cady's with 19' rims and multiple lcd screens for passengers to watch dvds or play some ps2 or spending 2-3 years worth of my salary on one f-ing outfit. Unless a celebrity is actually gonna bring some facts to the plate with them or is actually putting time and money into helping a situation they see needing help, I don't want to hear about it.

and I missed what Schilling said, but it's not like he told any fans listening, "I'm voting for Bush so you should too," right?
