Blache announces his retirement

While one Redskins coach retired Wednesday with much pomp and circumstance, another opted to hang up his coaching whistle quietly.

Re: Blache announces his retirement

Wish Blache nothing less than the best in retirement. Maybe being away from the rigors of the NFL will mellow him some and he won't be as grumpy with his grandchildren. He had us ranked 4th-10th respectively in his two yrs. as DC, nothing shabby about that despite the various complaints people had with him.....Good luck!!

Re: Blache announces his retirement

Certainly not the most popular guy with the fans or the media, but I think he did a pretty nice job in the circus like environment. His defense consistently outplayed the piss poor offense, but I think it is a good time for him to go. We need change everywhere and think Haslett can be successful with the foundation Blache leaves.

Good luck to him. I think he gave it everything, and never slacked. Hope he enjoys retirement.

Re: Blache announces his retirement

Blache is a character, gave the job some flare while not even liking to talk to the media. As a coordinator, I was always torn about his unit's performance. They seemed so solid at times, yet couldn't make big plays or get the crucial stops w/the game on the line. I know they usually had to take the field for too long due to the O's ineptness.

I really think that Blache's retirement was such a foregone conclusion that it had to affect the team's play. Hall said after the season that Blache didn't want to coach anymore. I think Blache was stubborn & stuck to his system too much. He probably was worn out w/the drama surrounding the team this year too.

Somewhere in an unnamed studio, Trevor Mattich is snickering.

Re: Blache announces his retirement

Only thing i didn't like about Blache is that he felt like blitzing was overrated...other than that, his defenses were solid.
