Very sad. The rumor for a while had been late 2010, then it moved up to February, then suddenly it was today. Curious to see what happens to their Redskins beat reporter Ryan O'Halloran. He's great

Getting rid of the sports section. Thats a death wish for any newspaper. The equivalent in business of cutting advertising cost to save money.

Front Page for latest news. Sports Comics.... The Post has the Metro so us guys might actually read that as well for local news. Now unles your into business or stocks then you might actually read 3/4th of the paper. It sounds like they are dooming themselves if you ask me. Cut sports and you cut a large majority of male readers. |

They've already cut their weekend editions. Rumor is they will completely shut down in 2010 and be online only.

The recessionary economy is reeking havoc across a broad spectrum, nothing is exempt.

Ann Arbor did that with their newspaper a few years back. Totally cut the print to go online. It is sad, but they can't compete with the WP.

Re: Washington Times sports section prints for last time Friday
I wonder what Thom Loverro is going to do now? He is always advertising on the radio for the Washington Times. It really is bad when you don't have a sports section. They could have cut something else, I am sure but I guess that was probably the most costly. With the internet cutting into to so much of the media, this what happens when you can get the information faster than waiting for a day for it.

Washington Times has been bleeding cash forever. Sucks to be let go during the holidays but everyone there knew the writing was on the wall.

That's the only section I read in that pile of a paper. I wonder if the Post brings O'Halloran on or if he moves elsewhere.
