Was Urlacher fined?

Just curious if Urlacher got fined for that facemask on Portis. Roy Williams got fined for the hit on Gardner and this was worse IMO. At least this time they threw the flag.

That's a good question. Wasn't LaVar fined for a facemask against Tiki? My feeling is that Urlacher won't be fined because they did throw a flag. I don't know for sure but something tells me LaVar's fine was because no flag was thrown...as if LaVar should be punished for the ref's on field mistake

I've never heard of a fine for a facemask, but they ought to give him one. Portis' head snapped back so hard I was sure he was going to be out the rest of the game.

If Lavar deserved one, Urlacher totally did. Remember, Portis had ALREADY hurt his neck in that game. Seemed like a complete cheap shot, witht the aim to get Portis out of the game. But Clinton was too tough.

I heard about that facemask on the news...it was in the third quarter I think...but was it actually a penalty?

Yes, it was a penalty (15 yarder), but if the league wants to stay consistent, there should definitely be a fine. They have fined players for much less.

The league needs to at least review it because it looked a lot more vicious than Lavar's.

Does anyone know a site where people can check for fines that have been assigned? I would like to know if the officials from the Dallass game were ever punished, as well as whether or not Urlacher got the fine he deserved. I checked NFL.com, but that site doesn't seem to discuss fines at all.

Arrington would probably be suspended if he ripped on someone's mask like that

Fine him, it was blatant and good job of the Fox team showing Portis knocking Urlacher silly either last year or the year before. Add to that the shot of Portis flexing his muscle late in the game and that kid is a keeper.

why exactly was lavar fined for his facemask on tiki? it was just the 5 yard variety!! was it because they didn't throw a flag on the play????

Exactly, it looked liked Lavar's was totally unintentional.

It looked like he had maybe two fingers inside tiki's helmet. Urlacher had a handful and completely turned Portis's head around and brought him to a complete stop. I don't know how they can interprete that as unintentional.

Well if they would have thrown a flag on the helmet leading hit by Roy Williams that would have let the Redskins have another play because the game can not end on a defensive penalty. So they didnt throw it. thats my guess.
