Why we need to rout for 2-14
While this season is difficult to watch in the long run we need to rout for the Skins to be as bad as possible. The worst thing that can happen for this team would be to roll off 5-6 wins and be as close to .500 - this would only provide a temporary smokescreen for the true talent level of the team (or lack of talent and depth I should say) and give Synder reason to keep his current front office structure and team building philopsphy in place.
This is simply not about losing to get better draft positioning in the upcoming offseason - we are not just one player or one draft from turning things around - we are likely 3 full drafts from turning the corner and building a true foundation and injecting the team with much needed youth in all reality. I hate this because lets be honest - we always seem to be rebuilding in the offseason - but if we are to ever truely turn the corner we need to flush the entire system down the drain from top to bottom - and 2-14 justifies that a lot more than 7-9. |

i can't root for the team to go 2-14. Ain't happening. I hear what you are saying, and logically it's valid. But if I was following logic I wouldn't even watch again until the off-season championship drive begins.

I always hate stuff like this. While I have given up all hope in regard to this season, each week when I tune in I'll be rooting for a win, no question. Are people really rooting against their own team??

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
I'm torn. I can't bear the thought of the Skins being the bottom feeder and ending 2-14, but I also understand that most likely we will end up with a high draft pick in doing so and we need a young LT. Second round maybe a RT to secure the ends. Pick up a free agent QB that knows the system we are trying to run and invite all UFA O-lineman to camp. Let them know they have a good chance to start. Invite a couple of UFA QB's in cause we know JC will be gone, Collins is old and should be cut, so a huge youth movement is needed.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
Matty - don't get me wrong - it pains me to watch the team lose but if we are to have any hope at all turning things around we need a compelte flushout of the system - getting close to .500 only provides ammunition to keep on the current path.
Let me ask another way - would fans prefer to continue seeing the current front office structure continue as-is if that means .500 ball with maybe a first round wild-card loss every 5 years or so? Or would you rather get a true correction and allow the possibility of bringining in a new front office structure that a 2-14 or continious bad teams would eventually force the hand of Sydner provide? |

and....change. The only way change will occur is if the team looks horrid and DS can't take anymore of the same crap. Only then will he start firing people and hopefully make the right changes needed to turn this team around. Otherwise expect more of the same. |

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
If we need to go 2-14 to make it apparent that things need to change, the problems already run too deep for a new team president/GM to matter anyway.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
Well if we ran off 5 to 6 wins against the teams we have to play maybe we are not as bad as 2 and 5.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
Agree 100%. I cant stand arguements like this. I have a friend who actually places bets against his team and states "well if they win or lose, ill be happy either way".....can never root against my team

Root for us to loss out...? You go right ahead!
As for myself and ALL the REAL fans I know...I'm rooting for a WIN EVERY Sunday! IMO this is a retarded thread.

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
Well i understand the logic but i'll rather get the top 7-14 draft pick it's easier to trade down

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
SBXVII - good response and that point you made about DS not being able to take it anymore forcing a change is what I am trying to get at.
Like I said it pains me to see the team lose but the current philosphy and path the team has taken does not give fans much hope now and for the future. I think it was Tony Dungy who said it best that when you rebuild you can't do it halfway - you need to go all the way. Looking at the current roster do many of you all have a lot of hope that the team is successfully replenshing itself with youth to take over when veterans start to wear out (and remember that the average legnth of nfl tenure is 3-4 years and injuries are a big part of the game as every team has them). How many of you all are happy with the team allocating so much money to a few high priced players leaving team depth, well pretty much unaddressed? At the end of the season if you are going to miss the playoffs (and lets be honest here - the Skins chances of making the playoffs are not too good) wouldn't you really like to see the team make a complete overhaul instead of just tinkering? |

Re: Why we need to rout for 2-14
I've already accepted the fact that the team is bad and the organization is worse but even though I'm boycotting the team, I can't say I wish they will lose. There is something in me that would love to see them win eight games in a row and go to the playoffs. I know its not going to happen but can't a fan dream.
