Return of Joe Gibbs - - Update
Conversations regarding the possibility of Joe Gibbs returning to the Redskins in a senior managerial role - - but NOT as the head coach - - have halted. According to my source, it is unlikely that there will be any more discussions until after Christmas.
However, my source tells me that this "break" in the conversations is just that - - a break in the conversations and not a sign that this issue has been resolved one way or the other. My source ALSO told me that Joe Gibbs and Darrell Green have had dinner a couple of times in the past two weeks but it was NOT clear to my source whether Green was an emissary of Danny Boy or if this was just a coach and one of his top-shelf players just maintaining their relationship. If these "conversations" don't amount to a hill of beans, there will be no stories in the mass media about the "failure to reach an agreement here". On the other hand, my source tells me that if this all works out and Gibbs comes back to the Skins, it will be a headline story on ESPN for at least 3 days. I'm not quite sure what that means exactly, but my source is adamant on that point... And I am acutely aware of how much Danny Boy loves to have a postive story related to him and/or the Skins dominate ESPN coverage ... Stay tuned. Same time next month... Same Bat Channel...

Re: Return of Joe Gibbs - - Update
Sounds like Gibbs is coming back. I'm betting, they're working through the details of his role, how to go about it, and the make-up of the front office.
It's very unlikely that Gibbs and Green had dinner and the state of the Redskins didn't come up in conversation. It's possible that Gibbs has or will come to terms with that he'll always be a Redskin and he'll never fully escape being connected to this organization. |

Can we just get Chris Polian as our GM?

Re: Return of Joe Gibbs - - Update
This whole thing is going to end up being a big distraction for the Skins. They either need to bring him back or publicly put it to rest.

We should hire Heather Graham as GM. On-field play could not be any worse and the fan's view would be better.

Gibbs coming back isn't good news, and it's exactly what I would expect from lil D. I think the FO situation only becomes more amorphous and confused after this season i.e. instead of bringing in a legit GM who really runs the show Snyder will have a "committee" (Vinny will still be around too I think), which will allow him to stay very involved in ALL real personnel decisions but behind a "bigger" cloak. The more I see this season's disaster unravel the clearer it becomes Snyder will never hand the reigns over to a true professional. Like someone else wisely said, if Snyder did that and the guy was successful who would get the credit? Waaayyyyy too much for the little man's ego to handle...

Re: Return of Joe Gibbs - - Update
Well yet again we are all getting spun up over rumors.....
Not only do we not know if JG will come back we don't even know if he does what roll he would play. I doubt he will come back as a GM since there is a lot of work involved and he has his racing team to manage. I can see him being in a position to help locate a legitimate GM and assist with locating a legitimate HC who will take the job perhaps under the understanding that DS will back off considerably. |

Re: Return of Joe Gibbs - - Update
No former Skins greats should be involved in our management structure.
Doing this only cements to me that Snyder is more concerned with catering to the public opinion and not putting the right people in place to building a competitive team. Doing this only leads to more of the chicanery that Dan does just to gain the good graces of the fans. Really...he only shows that he's interested in keeping the stadium seats filled and doesn't show any due diligence in actual football operations. Enough with the former players and coaches...just say NO!

...sort of makes it hard to believe Gibbs would come back yet again. It's like he needs to say "Now Danny I'm not gonna be around to baby-sit you forever..."
